Nice. The one I ordered for my wifes Lexus arrived today, so will install after I give her car a winter decontamination and ceramic sealant.

Go for it! Finally got around to finishing up the rear cam mount today (misplaced the bracket for a bit) and placing the cam on the glass side fits great. If needed, I'll snap a pic tomorrow

So I installed this tonight. Took 10 whole minutes. Video can be set 2K - 4K. I am getting the identical one for my Tundra. The video is massive so will try and get a smaller capture to upload

So if I have a covercraft windshield cover will the fitcamx be the only dashcam that works with the cover?

Pro tip I figured out. When you vehicle is parked in a garage it will record the garage door for 10 hours while you sleep if you DO NOT Lock your doors. SO records 24/7 , lock your doors it is active but doesnt record unless something collides with your vehicle.

did you install the extra harness that goes to the fuse box so the dash cam will automatically record when it senses any motion? It will stop recording if the battery is too low

I'm torn between the FitCamX because of it's clean, easy install and a Viofo A129 Plus Duo which is about the same price and has front/rear and will be hard wired for parking but requires me to mess around with running a bunch of wires and tapping into fuses which I've never done before.

I had good experience with the A119 in my '05 Tundra which was a single channel. I never really felt I missed out not having the rear view either. On the flip side, the Viofo is well reviewed for quality of video and alot of reviews say the FitCamX doesn't have the best resolution even in 4K, making reading licence plates difficult.

    Anyone have experience with both?

No...just the harness that goes in the overhead console right behind the camera. Thats what was throwing me off is I thought it didnt work at all in the parked position unless wired to the fuse box.........and when I checked it was recording all night. so then I got concerned on battery life if the car sat for weeks, as it isnt really that easy to just unplug it....then I realized if you lock the doors it is dormant until the g-sensor gets tripped then will fire up and record .

just installed my viofo a129 pro single cam to the left of the rear mirror. ran the cord from the mirror, along the top head liner meets the windshield, then down the passenger a-pillar then along the base of the windshield then up to the 12v outlet on the top dash. the base of the windshield was easy to push the cord into and along the top of the head liner. the a-pillar cover was a different story. it was so tight you couldnt pry the cover back enough to shove the cable into/behind the cover. but if you removed the passenger grab handle (2x10mm screws) the a-pillar cover is now loose enough to push the cord under the cover using a pry tool (i used a j-hook took to wedge it under the cover after using a trim tool to pull it out slightly.

in case anyone want to go that route.

Just be careful with sharp tools as there is some side curtain airbags hiding in there I think! I took my pillar cover off and that's what it looks like.

i wasnt pushing the cable that far in, maybe at most 1/16 to maybe 1/8 in, just enough to get it behind the a-pillar cover and i was only pushing on the cable itself.

was very mindful of the air bags if there is any. i thought they moved them to the roof line and they are curtains now that deploy from the roof line.

nodak67, I totally get it, I just thought I would add to your directions for others. I was reading a thread earlier about installing a roof rack and the airbags were tagged, with a drill! I would hate to see anyone hit an airbag accidentally and I was surprised to see an airbag in the side pillar when I pulled the cover off.

another in depth review of the viofo a139 pro

comes in 1, 2, 3 channel config. if you have a a129 pro you can re-use those interior/rear view camera and just replace the main unit.

a139 pro now incorporates the new starvis 2 chip at 4K instead of the a129 pro 2k.

also the new interior/rear camera have new design features that make them easier to install. power cord now attaches from the side and connector now has a 90 deg connector to ease in hiding the wires easier.

its because of the new starvis 2 sensor. it went from a 1/2.8 to 1/1.8 sensor (bigger)

my a119 and a129 are bigger than those with a smaller sensor, but then incorporate a screen which was the bulk of the unit.

Its all about the sensor and soc. Just mske sure the soc is more recent and you will be fine. They're all pretty much the same. https://youtu.be/4AnyhHl3_tE

at least going from a 1/2.8 sensor to a 1/1.8 sensor, night time will be a lot better.

This fitcam looks great, but I checked on their website and it doesn't seem they have a Tundra Gen 3 version yet.
