2022 wiper blade replacement.

Has anyone swapped out the wiper blades on their 22+ yet ? I did a google search to find out that the wipers are apparently 24" Driver / 24" Passenger but when i went to remove the wipers from the truck they were a type i hadn't seen before. Is there a specific style that i need ?

 

I recently replaced mine. I noticed online information was kinda scarce. I went to autozone and found Bosch makes a set that fits our connection and they snap right in. I do not know the specific name or style. They are different from the typical J hook. Your local auto parts store will have a set. I’ll see if I can find the receipt.

 

Replaced mine with Trico Onyx. Perfect fit and function.

I saw a post online somewhere that mentioned the BOSCH OE wipers...i wonder if those are the ones i need.

 

If you’re near a dealer you should be able to buy the rubber inserts instead of replacing the entire blade, I find the OE rubber to work the best and last the longest here in Phoenix

 

This holds true for me too, at least on wife’s RAV4- haven’t changed truck blades out yet though.

 

Wish i could say the same...maybe its the colder Canadian weather but mine are skipping and rubbing across the windshield whenever i turn them on

 

Guess it’s hit and miss, seems like everything is getting cheap these days unfortunately

 

Bosch gets put on my vehicles, they seem to stay quiet and last the longest.

My experiences with my 4Runner, living in Idaho, Georgia, Maine, and back to Idaho mimicked this. Everything else was expensive and inferior. New blades for the 4R were $6 or less, OEM.

If anyone has anecdotes where x or y brand really outperformed the OEM rubber, please share, with costs of x or y brand vs OEM.

 

Checked with my dealer and parts guy said Toyota had “moved away” from selling wiper blade refills. I had some 26” Aero cut to fit refills left over and was able to use them on the OEM blades. Bought the Aero 6 mm refills for $7 on Amazon. The Aeros worked great on my Titan and look very similar (look more substantial but almost exact same design) to the OEMs in the 2022 Tundra blade. The Aeros come without any fancy packaging helping the environment and also lowering the cost. Be careful with the OEM blades. They disassemble pretty easily but do not appear real high quality, so don’t force the plastic parts and U will be fine.

 

My old Tundra I went with aftermarket (Trico etc )....replace them every year. Wifes Lexus, sons Lexus, daughters Venza get the rubber inserts from toyota every 3-4 years at abou t the 1/8th of the cost...and we live in Canada

I wonder if @ryanwgregg could chime in and confirm here? Do the 22 + tundras have wipers with replaceable rubber inserts? Is there a part # for them? or is it true toyota is moving away from using these? I haven't looked at replacements yet, but will be this fall. I use the rubber inserts for my wifes rav4 and they work great & cheaper than replacing the full blade.

 

yeah i would replace with silicone wipers, they last longer than the rubber ones (at least for our winter/summers up here)

 

I tried some rain-x latitudes but the lockup with the supplied attachment is horrendous - tons of play. I ended up removing the end clip on the OEM arm, rain-x arm, and swapping the blades out. Long story short, yes you can swap just blades. I don't know if Toyota sells just blades, but maybe that's another part @ryanwgregg can find for us. I'm still waiting to hear about the matte black window trim, though

Any possibility Toyota's making a new bottom piece that fits better with the rear trim piece?

 

Sure hope Toyota still sells refills. Found over 10 yrs ago that Toyota refills outlast all the aftermarket blades I tried more than twice as long. Cheaper too if ordered online for pickup at the parts counter.

 

Toyota still does refills. I did wipers couple months ago. Part# 85213-0C010. Same size both side. It was about $10 ea from my dealer.

 

I just replaced my 22 Tundra Limited 24” Blades with Michelin Guardians.

They have exact fitting for the new and unique wiper Tundra wiper blades.

The upper blade in the photo below is the OEM off of the Tundra, the bottom is the Michelin Guardian with the fitting attached.

I used these and they work great.

 

Mine have been smudging ever since I bought the vehicle. Only have 3700 miles. Live in the Seattle area so good wipers are essential. Wondering if I can get a new set under warranty.

 

Mine still work great but this will be my 1st option when needing replacement ... get it done at an oil change !

Just put a set on a couple of days ago, so no time to analyze, yet. 24OE size for both sides.

 

Not on the Tundra but have used them in the past. Definitely would buy again but they ain't cheap.

 

same...I use them on all our vehicles and they last a long time. Been 2 years on oem blades and theyre starting to streak.

 

My originals still work well after 15 months. If the Toyota replacements are the same as the originals, I think I would give them a try for $20.
