What home improvement work did you do today?

I don’t know if I told you, the lady that I gave some of your nuts to, said she’s got two or 3 sproutlings or whatever, not sure if they are in dirt yet or not.

 

You did - that’s pretty awesome. I’m hoping for a good haul this year. Last two years were nothing.

 

Why the lull?

 

The heat and the drought last year. I didn’t feel right watering and it pissed the tree off. If we have another drought this year, I’ll run some soaker hoses around the tree. I miss my nuts.

 

Metal tined leaf rake. Rake the yard like you would rake leaves and go in diffetent directions to get the dead grass out, sand worked down and live grass standing up.

Is your washing machine close enough to do some grey water harvesting? Two birds with one nut kinda action!

 

Unfortunately, no. It’s on the opposite side of the lot and waaaaaay back.

 

And I assume they need a lot of water? I know here the groves do flood style watering. I was super close to getting my moms duramax with a trailer stuck in one of the groves in Gilbert getting cut wood, it was like thick pudding!

 

I'm trying to figure out what snow mold is

 

I’m not sure - this tree was planted back in the 1920’s or something. The city planted them. We are a few blocks from the river and over an aquifer so it may be tapping into some ground water. The heat didn’t wilt it or anything, it just didn’t produce nuts. Or many of them, at least.

 

It’s Canadian for Permafrost.

My first ex wife had snow mold once. I think she got it from having her grass tickled. There is a reason she is an ex.

 

I added a couple items to the to-do list.

First up is to figure out some form of drainage for the back yard. This happens every spring and is worse this year since the neighbors on the other side of the fence built up a garden bed along it.



Next up is another drainage issue. I want to eliminate the hose laying in the front yard which is my sump pump drain.
