I hate doing drywall. My observation of how the pros do it compared to my relatively poor skills at it, is they use a lot more mud on their joints, and they do a better job at the initial “float” of that mud than me. I pick at it too much looking for a good float. They just float and go, then sand smooth after. But sanding a crappy float with too much or too little mud ain’t fun. I sub drywall out everytime there’s a big project.

Not very pretty or exciting, but finally replaced my 36 year old oil tank, I have been a bit nervous that I would come home some day with a few gallons of oil all over my garage! New one is double walled, takes up less floor space, and has a 30 year warranty!

I don’t even know what an oil tank is . I’m guessing it’s for heating

Good for you, fleeing to a warmer climate!!! I have no access to natural gas lines in my area, so unfortunately it's oil, or WAY overpriced propane. At least it forced me to finally clean up the garage area!

Went to get groceries today and walked through the garden area on my way in. They had St. Augustine sod on sale for $1.25 a piece which was a hell of a lot cheaper than buying it from Lowes. So I buy my groceries, put them in the Bifmobile and walk back to the garden area dude. I told him I'd like to buy 50 pieces of sod. He said, "Will you take 70 for the price of 50? I have some that is drying out."

Deal. I pay and bring the truck around to start loading it. He pulls up a pallet of grass and we start putting them in bed of the truck. After about 8 of them, I asked him if he was keeping track. He says "I'm pretty sure this pallet is just half so I'm figuring that other pallet too."

The truck bed is practically overflowing and the first pallet is almost empty. The dude says "I think I underestimated how many are on a pallet." I thank him and head home to unload. Turns out he gave me about 100 for the price of 50. It was a good day.

I stacked them, prepped the area, and slapped them down. I still have about 35 left. :)

I watched a lot of youtube (Home RenoVision DIY, dudes a really good teacher for home projects) about how to apply it in strategic thin coats and not have to sand too much. Then I tried it. Then I bought one of these... the drywall in my house is of typical modern builder grade low quality too so it'll get some use over the years.

Sorry, no pics because I’m not finished……
I installed a tankless water heater at my moms house, the one that starts with a R…… hahah
I’ve done others, but ran into problem after problem, stupid stuff. Most of the ones I’ve done just use 2” pvc for the intake and exhaust, super simple. This one uses a dual walled manufacturer specific flue/intake vent. I probably ordered the wrong roof jack flashing(got one made for shingles but didn’t know that) but I made it work. I ended up being about 6” short with the flue pipe:( I thought I’d be long…… so now I’ll have to wait until Monday to order a small extension and probably wait more than a week to get it. While I was on the roof I used the patch sealer to go over some spots on her roof, it needs a new coat of paint. But everything else is done with the water heater, finished the gas line today, drilled a 1” hole thru the house for the drain, and I plumbed it all like two weeks ago, no leaks!!!!! I’m ready to get it done for her!!!

I’ve got that same brand of tankless. I feel your pain on the flue pipe for it, but it’s been flawless for 16 years now.

Question for anyone that has a metal roof installed. We are getting a 24 guage standing seam. I have the option to choose if I want a 2 inch polyiso board with an R-12 value installed. Should I, and how much more beneficial or energy efficient would it be?

We started on the new garage. We cut down all the trees in the circle driveway and blew it up this week. They have three or four more blasts before they are done. The first set of charges was about 55 foot long and about 10 foot wide. The depth of the charges ranged from 5' to 13' deep. It doesn't really look like anything was blown up. It raised the ground up in that area about 2' and dropped back down. Now that area is about 12" higher than it was before but all the rock under the dirt is broken up so the excavator can start digging into the hillside. We cut down 37 trees.
