I’m hesitant to give any kid a knife like this. They generally don’t appreciate or value things and probably would not take care of it. One of my sisters persuaded me to make a knife for my nephew when he graduated from high school. It was also a recognition gift for reaching Eagle Scout. So, probably I will make knives for the grandkids as they graduate from high school also.

Winning! I forget you moved down there. Was trying to get a layover in Austin for my next trip but didn't get the stars to align. Some day soon I hope. You still enjoying the area?

Yes, overall we are enjoying it. There have certainly been some bumps in the road during the last yea and there things that are very different. However, things are coming together as our girls are well settled into their schools which are way better than the schools in Oregon, we close on our new house in a couple of weeks, and work is going well.

Anyone know a good window tinting spot? I need to get my front windows tinted on the tundra and 4runner. Near Milton/Fife area. Thanks!

Alot of Linex places do it as a side gig and are good at it for trucks. I’ve done three vehicles at the Linex of Kirkland and has been flawless for years. Obviously pretty far but may have luck with a Linex near you. Good price vs quality.

Nope; I don’t do college anything or basketball in general. But I hope they lose soon cuz I need a hotel room in Spokane next weekend and they are all sold out.

College tour to Gonzaga and Boise State next week. Then UW at some point. Gotta make a decision in April!

Have you had to redo anything because of tint chipping or peeling off?

Been all good so far with one vehicle at 4 years and another at 2 years of tint applied to all windows. I did notice some little marks on the driver side but realized it was the seat belt hitting the window sometimes when taking it off quickly, so don’t do that haha, self inflicted.

Broken moon roof? 2021 limited, first time touching since…. October? With the lovely weather I thought I would open the moon roof (eg back) and got 1/3 of way and it started popping/grinding. Like glass was bound on the track. Got it back to home and tried the tilt, and did the same thing at the very end of lift. Got it back home. Not worried about water intrusion. Have and appointment in 10 days.

Has anyone experienced this? I had similar issue with Escape where it was forced open and I had to rebuild the piece connecting to track.

    Thoughts?

Yessir you are correct! Scared the life out of me when I tried to open it, didn’t ever try again because I didn’t want it getting stuck.
Took it in to the dealer and they thought maybe just the cables some how had gotten off track, but when they looked it ended being that the cables were actually corroded and seized up, that caused the motor to slip and the assembly ended up getting off center.
They ended up having to pull the headliner down and replace the entire sunroof (glass, tracks, cables, etc.). Thankfully it was still under Toyota care, otherwise that would have been around $5k..
Seems like a potential issue with 20-21 MY’s maybe? In their report they said “symptoms are identical to tsb 0042-20 for 2020 model year.”

@BrunoTheRescuePup I’d take it in and let them have a look. If it is under a bulletin they should cover it

Dang this is why I like no moonroofs/sunroofs as well as the fewest motorized parts as possible. They are cool until they don’t work haha. Once a Passat we had, would randomly open the sunroof while driving on the freeway, including while raining lol. Also being tall the sunroofs in Toyota take alot of headroom away, especially the 4runners. Glad this is being fixed under warranty and hope it stays fixed.

Guess I'll have to watch for that. Just opened mine last week for the first time in 6-7 months and it always sounds like it's stuck closed but opens just fine. Wonder if we can lube the cables?

Yo friends. Sorry for no response but thanks for all the valuable info. Into dealer at end of next week for pre planned service. Doing tranny, transfer, diffs new fluid at 2 years/10k and added a look at this issue to the service. Will report back. Hope all a good couple weeks until then.

Update on sunroof. Took it into one of the largest dealerships in Oregon and this is the first time they have ever had this reported. Provided TSB and they noted that my VIN falls outside of the impacted models (too new), but since under warranty they will fix. Need to leave it for a couple days so I will do so later in April. Thanks for the heads up @RegGex !

Hey... where did you end up going?? I never had any problems w/the one in my '08, but after seeing your post I went out and messed around w/the one in my '21 and took a very close look at it (probably too close). So, it looks to me like when closing from a retracted position it may not be seating all the way up (again I may be using some hyper-sensitive filters now), but it seems to seat properly when going from tilt back down...

I haven't noticed any leaks, and I've not had the issue you are describing at all. But, either way, I'll have the dealer look at it when it goes in for service this month since it's under warranty. Probably nothing though...

Happy to help! I wonder what their (Toyota) threshold is for extending that TSB to later years if enough roll through with the same issue. Either way I’m glad it’s under warranty for you and you don’t have to fork it out!

Not sure, but the TSB was updated in Feb 2022 so it surprised me mine wasn't technically included.
