Living in GTA Canada, do I need to put additional anti-theft?

I constantly hear people's trunks or new vehicles getting stolen, I am getting a 23 Capstone next week, do I need to purchase any additional anti-theft devices to protect myself? It will park out side of my garage half of the time.

 

Get some cat plates and keep your fob(s) turned off when not in use.

How many of your vehicles have been stolen so far? If the answer is zero I wouldn’t worry about it.
If you’re that worried throw an Apple AirTag under the seat. Someone steals it just go to where the airtag is and drive it back home

Don't leave your front end loader parked next to your Tundra. The thieves will jump start the loader and use it to flip your Tundra over so they can easily access the cats!

 

I read a story a few months back that this happened at a site in rural Ontario. They flipped 8 trucks on their sides and took the cats! Probably a million dollars worth of trucks damaged and left waiting for repairs. For a few hundred bucks worth of cats at a scrap yard!

Shooting someone over a car part seems crazy!

Even the cat shields can be cut up and removed with enough time. It is just a matter of how much noise they will make cutting a large plate. Cops probably wont be there soon enough to make a difference. It seems like it is better/safer just to let them take what they want.

 

Crazy is someone trying to steal your car parts. Shooting someone for stealing your parts is normal, it eliminates the problem.

 

I know I live in Texas and we have different mentalities but I think there’s something quite profoundly wrong with “just let them steal from me and I’ll let it happen for my safety”.

We don't really have the same situation up here, it is pretty rare to see anyone with a gun except the thieves and the cops.

I was thinking about something like an electrified mat that the truck would sit over. Just switch it on and make sure to wear rubber boots

Buy a ravelco, makes it unstealable. We put them on the personal and service rigs out here in California. 12 black wires in your harness in a metal sheath, makes it super difficult to hot wire.

Ravelco looks like an interesting product.

I guess the electrified mat idea might cause some issues by melting the crooks! Might be better off to get a pet skunk and put up a "beware of skunk" sign.

 

I put one in my truck after it was stolen, same with my buddies with service trucks that were stolen. It makes them impossible to steal - save for putting them on a flatbed. No better product on the market IMO. It's mechanical which makes it more difficult to try and hack.

 

Another option is to have an IGLA system installed.

 

Turn off your FOB when you walk in at night. Press and hold the lock button and press unlock twice. You’ll see the red LED flash and you can test it by trying to grab your door handle and it won’t unlock. To wake the FOB up just press any button. Keeps thieves from copying the FOB ping from the front door or driveway.

It depends who the criminals are, and where you live as to who you need to let steal from you.

“Teens” in an urban area? Best let them do what they do and avoid hearing about how they were just turning their lives around from your jail cell.

 

That is exactly how I feel about it. I wouldn't shoot to kill, but I would surely shoot both knees out and let them limp in pain for the rest of their lives. Time to think about what they tried to do. If they come back then shoot to kill, no more repeat offenders.

When ever I see the GTA. I always think of grand theft auto. Funny thing is that after listening to the police chief in Toronto reminding you to leave the keys by the front door, it is kind of the same.
