I think CNBC is fake news, but inflation is still a thing. Do you expect to see, say a brand new limited tundra to come in at $40-45k ever again? I think that's very unrealistic.

I agree, cnbc is trying hard to keep the high prices narrative on their platform. I think prices will dip but it’s wishful thinking to expect pre-cvd levels

Probably nothing for now. I have a company vehicle and 2 other cars. Wife has a 2018 Camry.

The report is COX automotive - cnbc just happened to post the info.
Some samples below - its logical and makes sense.
It all points to less supply of used vehicles which means higher prices.

"Adding to the production hole is a change in leasing. Cox reports a 20% increase in consumers who leased their vehicles buying them out instead of trading them in from 2019 to 2022. The increase occurred as residual values of the vehicles in some cases were far above expectations, making it significantly cheaper to buy the vehicle than lease another amid inflated prices and rising interest rates."

“We’re unlikely to go back to pre-pandemic levels. Vehicles cost way more now,” Frey said regarding used car pricing. “The landscape has changed. [Automakers] are not manufacturing as many as they have because they got the taste of gold — huge profits from not having so many vehicles in manufacturing.”

Used vehicle inventory is down 21% from a year ago and off a whopping 26% from pre-pandemic levels of 2.8 million available vehicles in 2019. Cox Automotive doesn’t expect the total number of used sales to return to pre-pandemic levels of about 38.2 million units until at least 2026, Frey said.

Professional engineers also created such vehicles like Pontiac Aztec, Chrysler PT cruiser, Dodge Nitro etc. Marketing departments always have a leg up.

I’m not sure I follow, those are all super ugly vehicles yes, but that’s the designers not the engineers. Or was there some inherent mechanical flaw with each of those?

In truth, I don't think I'm understanding the point you are trying to make at all.... You say the ProPower is a bad idea because it would shorten battery life, is every Hybrid a bad idea then? When the Prius came out, did you also say, they shouldn't use the battery to drive the wheels as that will shorten the battery life? Certainly much more taxing than some power tools.

Glad you said this. I didn't want to argue with everyone in the thread, but my B&O Unleashed kicks ass for what it is. It's only a $600 upgrade from the 8 speaker B&O and I think you get a lot for that money.

I don't mind the Unleashed at all, but I wear hearing aids so I'm not a great judge. In my Capstone the sound system could not have been worse for $76K, horrible bass, no mids or highs, just terrible muffled sound coming from the Unleashed. I know the Unleashed is a point of contention for many Ford owners since it's difficult to upgrade for less than $3K, but it's solid for a stock system IMO, just like you said.

It doesn’t have a TON of power, 1080 watts maybe(?), but it’s enough for me and very clear. It’s better than any other stock system I’ve heard in a half ton.

Agree 100%. I am not an audiophile by any stretch but the Unleashed in my Raptor sounds good enough to me. The JBL in my 17 Tundra Platinum was the worst system I have had in a very long time and Toyota had the gall to call it premium. Agree also on both Ford and Toyota interiors being meh and lots of plastics. The Raptor interior is a huge step up from the Gen 2.5 Tundra though as I am sure the new Tundras is as well.

The JBL in the Gen 2 like my 2016 platinum is the worst thing ever, totally blows.

Teh best stock system I have heard in a 1/2 ton was the alpine I had in my Ram, for stock it was pretty good.

That said, they all suck compared to my aftermarket system I have now, HA. Its getting removed shortly as my new rig is now built now though

Agreed. The Harman Kardon speakers in my TRX is much better than the Tundra's and thats saying a lot as the HK system is just decent.

How's the contrast between the TRX and Tundra? I assume Tundra is DD and TRX is "fun" vehicle?

I love both and you are 100% spot on. The tundra is the daily and tow vehicle. The TRX is the fun vehicle but can still tow, get groceries, long road trips, etc. The fuel mileage is absolutely atrocious but who cares, its a TRX.

Nah, the value isn't there. The TRX is so much more truck for the money, if I go the V8 route the TRX is the only one that makes sense.

Wow. Just wow. No one has to justify their existence to anyone in life (except maybe to pay taxes?) much less on some
Internet forum. I could care less if anyone believed anything I said on here about myself, not looking for approval. I come on here to gain knowledge on my 2 Tundys and honestly for the entertainment (which this thread has delivered in a “can’t look away from the train wreck” kinda way). There’s lots of folks on here who want to own a Tundra, used to own a Tundra and even a few who actually do own a Tundra or 2. But carryon, it’s at least good for some entertaining reading.

I am actually interested to hear real word feedback from hybrid owners

Right now my truck wont even engage auto start/stop, always recharging the main battery, even after driving 15 mins, 10 miles on freeway, sitting at light of the freeway offramp - battery charging....

How are your the pros utilizing the hybrid nimh if my 15 mins cruising on freeway cant even fully charge the 12volt battery enough for start/stop at a freeway light?

Who do you think designs the body? There many different types of engineering involved, not just mechanical engineering.

I own a RAV4 hybrid, owned a Camry hybrid before that. Point I'm trying to make is, Not only you will have normal driving load on your batteries but also tools being used at different times of course. Basically you will be degrading your battery in two different ways. Of course this won't be noticeable if you use the inverter once in a blue moon.

So you think all the engineers who put together the powerboost system, didnt know anything about the specs they were trying to design to, and they didnt do any testing on the powertrain when they developed it, and somehow just magically pulled the 2.4kwh and 7.2kwh outta their asses? Ford just pushes it down to the consumers and just randomly tell marketing - yea they can plug in xyz in 110/220 and pull xyz watts from the system....

This is not a nimh battery, I doubt a nimh can ever be energy efficient enough to be used as a inverter, they weigh more, take longer to charge and is basically old tech compared to lion these days
    https://www.motorbiscuit.com/nickel-metal-hydride-lithium-ion-type-hybrid-battery-better/

Fords using li-ion, and if you still dont believe me, even old prius - ppl swap out to lithium packs when the nimh dies, something like 1/2 the weight and 3x the power/weight ratio

Your phone has a lithium ion battery....how long does it last after couple of years of fast charging? All I'm saying is more load/use you put on your battery will degrade it. No reason to get excited here lol.
