So I've been in a market for a Tundra and plan on purchasing a used Limited this weekend. I notice on Autotrader over the past weekend there was a huge influx of Tundra stocks. Lots of certified used and new 2023's in. Crazy cause two weeks ago there wasn't many. Now there so many options.

Anyone knows whats going on? I'm hoping this means I can finally negotiate for the Tundra Im looking for :fingerscrossed:

Production certainly isn't ramping up or anything. On the last allocation, 3% of the build was gas model Tundra and 1% was hybrid Tundra. It might just be a coincidence that more are coming. Or people just aren't accepting the shitty dealers that charge over MSRP.

I think you have a combination of factors , production output in greater than a year ago, interest rates are higher than before , economy has people scared , flippin a vehicle is much more dicey now than just a few months ago .
Unless your in the Porsche , Mercedes , Audi over 125K , vehicles supply is out there , for lower priced cars and trucks . I know my Porsche dealers are still asking over MSRP for certain Porsches and Msrp for all the rest.
Half of the people who wanted to buy a truck or car a year ago , were just getting on a list to purchase and flip.

I, for one, will be waiting at least until the '25s arrive to see if the inventory/pricing nightmare has ended, before deciding to buy.

IN 2025 new car prices will be much higher. More tech, newer features etc. Its just how the market works.

IN 2025 you will be buying a used 2022 because the 2025's are going to be 10K more just with the added tax the government imposes

I dropped mine off this morning for 10,000 mile service. Couldn't believe it they have an orange pro on the lot. My guess is they want too much so there it sits

The real question is what state are you in? There are a lot of them here in Texas and on several occasions I have seen 18 wheelers on the highway full of new Tundras coming from San Antonio. Last load even had two new Sequoias on the back.

I have seen TRD Pros, Capstones all of it available here in Texas. I have mentioned be before but I drove by a huge Toyota dealer in Houston back in December and there were not less than 30 new Tundras lined up on the front row of the lot.

Edit: That same dealer now shows 61 Tundras and 23 Hybrid Tundras on the website. I’m sure some of these are still in transit however.

Im in Florida. Just purhased a certified used limited for $53k (not including taxes and fees). I drove 4 hours to get it and it was definitely worth it! I love it! That same dealer has about 10 new Tundras on the lot and another dealer close have about 8 used and 7 new on the lot.

People with upside down auto loans turning in their vehicles or banks finally posting them on the market?

Don't buy from Tampa Bay Toyota (Tampa, FL). I bought my first Tundra (2008) and got most of my services there. Until the last few years, customer service suck and full of sh!t. Went there to see if they have a TRD Pro; they have one arrived in 9 days and want $15K mark up; $100,093 out the door.

I took my business to Wesley Chapel Toyota and got myself a Limited crewmax with free lifetime powertrain warranty.

The dealer I bought mine from I got with no markup about a year ago. Now they have a pro on the lot and have a $10K markup. I remember them advertising no dealer markup, and said to me they had no interest in gouging people. Hmmmmmm.....

I told him if they remove the markup to call me (knowing they won't - IDK what I'll say if they call me LOL)

This. There is a LOT of voluntary repos out there that banks are sitting on.

Starting to see more Tundras in my my local area. Until past 45 days I would go out and 80 percent of time not see another gen 3. I saw the only other Army Green parked at a store couple weeks ago

Pros are still a rare siting. I have yet to see a new Sequoia of any model on the road. I live in metro ATL and occasionally go into the city if I have to. I pretty much see everything rate, exotic and short supply except a Sequoia.

I saw video of massive lots full of cars that are bank repossessed in California, and the banks were refusing to sell them because it’ll crash other existing loans they have that are barely over water….i’ll try to find and post video

Not sure how the rest of you feel, but it seems to ebb and flow where I am. At one point, it seems like there is a flood of Tundras on the lots, then there are periods in which if there are any Tundras on the lots, its 2WD and Capstones. Not knowing the distribution practices of Toyota, I feel there are periods in which certain geographic locations are allocated several units while others will only trickle in and vice versa.

The other thing I've seen is they don't seem to budge on price and they don't see much influx of the higher trims. There's Tundras at my closest dealer that have been there. There's a pro they want like 90K (and MSRP is probably 72K at best) and there's a capstone that I'm sure they want quite a bit for, they just sit there. I know that chances are that someone will pay the markup, but I also think there's got to be pressure to get rid of them. I had a dealer tell me once that as far as allocation, they don't send you another of the same trim/packages unless you're selling what you have. You would think they want turn over of the highest trims.

My last oil change at the dealer they had more 'used' Tundras than new.
These 'used' were 2023s with less than 100 miles.
I wondered if the dealer bought them and then turned them around to sell them for more as used?

Have heard of dealers doing that, especially with ford and other limited vehicles that manufactures hold dealers to selling at msrp

Yes sir. They will keep sitting on them for a little while longer. I mean when a person rolls out of a dealership with a 1500-2000k car note for 60-72 months obviously depending on a whole bunch of factors they start crying once that first payment comes due same time as a mortgage.

My friend who sells cars at a Toytoa dealership said a lady wanted a sienna so bad she left with $1700 a month for 75 months as she was underwater on her trade in and $3000 down (no idea on interest but yeah that math is scary).

    People do not think sometimes
