Hey all, what can you tell me about visiting Yuma.

My father-in-law was stationed there for training during WWII and the wife wants to visit. We are thinking about staying in the old town area and visiting the normal tourist places. Is it safe to walk around after dark and are there any places you recommend to see or eat at.

I am up here in Cottonwood, AZ and I CCW everywhere I can.

Popular place to eat: https://mrgsyuma.com/index.html https://www.chilepepperyuma.com/index.html owned by the same family. My family and really like it.

Lots of newer hotels right off the highway (I-8). I'd guess it's probably safe, just dark and old.

We used to visit a lot and annually for dove hunting in September. Decent fishing with the river nearby, just use caution near the border. There's also a handful of casinos with the reservations in the surrounding areas.

There's not a whole lot to do in Yuma...

"Just use caution near the border?" I heard that it's safe and effective.

Take your truck to the dunes. It's about 40 minutes west of town.

A visit to the notorious Yuma territorial prison is worth the time. Lots of famous (infamous) outlaws spent time there. It’s an interesting place with some history.

Well, my wide and I did the Yuma trip last weekend and we both had a lot of fun.

We found marker by the dam where her dad was stationed and we saw the display by the proving grounds. Driving on the back roads by all the farm fields was actually neat and reminded me of back home.

Saturday morning we went out to Glamis and A guy I was talking to gave us a ride in his RzR R. That was a LOT of fun and an amazing experience. My wife usually give me shit for talking to everyone.

The old town area was funt o look around too. There isn't a lof to see but we sat at the patio bars in the nice weather and watched people and cars cruise by. The territorial prison was just OK and not as neat or historical as I expected. It was only in the 80s when we were there but I am sure it was hell on earth for those who served there.

I actually saw fewer bums there than where i am at, but I don't think too many homeless types want to hang around in the summer.
