    Scumbags.

While unloading some stuff from the back seat on the driver's side yesterday I saw that the door was dented in several places. I have been to the grocery store and Lowes several times this week and always park as far away from other vehicles as I can. Just as I have been doing forever. I usually park it the very last row at the far end of the lots.

Anyway, the pattern here looks like it was probably a shopping cart, not a vehicle. And as far out as I park it almost had to be deliberate, or perhaps a runaway cart since these lots do have some grade to them.

Top pic shows overall, second pic is upper dent, 3rd pic is lower dent. Luckily the paint doesn't seem to be scratched significantly. So, I am thinking that paintless dent repair should be able to fix this but I have never needed that before so IDK for sure. What do you guys think?

That sucks, when you wish someone other than Tesla put cameras all over their vehicles.

    People are absolute shit.

I hope paintless dent removal can get you fixed up. They can work miracles on hail damage, so I would imagine they could tackle this.

My Tundra has the PVM but, alas, it is not designed to record on impacts. I also have a dual dashcam setup that has parking mode but I don't use it due to battery drain. But since it looks to the front and back it might not have seen anything in this case anyway unless the perps somehow got into the cams' fields of view... and if the impact was great enough to activate them. So IDK. There are dashcam systems with a 3rd channel that looks into the cabin. One of those might have caught a view through a window. Maybe.

Am I seeing two intersecting diagonal creases? And paint scuffs inline with the one crease? Hard to imagine how a shopping cart hit would do that. I’m thinking that something with suspension hit it. Any motorcycles parked next to you lately?

PDR would be my first hope too, have a pro check it out.

That’s a good thing. If no creases it’s probably a cake walk for PDR.

That's what I was thinking. Pretty simple shapes here. And no complicating intersecting creases.

    Lots of stuff!
Perhaps some running boards or sliders would help protect the sides? I would park at the top of the grade in parking lots, carts shouldn't roll uphill.

Unfortunately, the top of the grade is right up front by the store entrances so then you have to joust with the traffic and have "neighbors" parked hard upside next to you on both sides. Just can't win. I have been parking in these same far spaces for 20 years and never had this happen before. Now a 2 month old truck, and whamo.

Same happened to me over the holidays with my 2021 F150. Wife and mother in law sent me out into a severely windy evening looking for last minute ingredients and I found a dent and gouged paint the next morning. One of those "filing a claim and paying the deductible doesn't save enough to make having a claim on my record worth it" scenarios. I ended up coming out of pocket for body work and a repaint of the bedside. Every vehicle I have has bad luck for about the first 2-3 years. Then once I stop stressing almost nothing ever happens again.

Since I got the bodywork and paint you wouldn't believe the complaining I get when the wife and kid see where I plan to park when we pull into a lot now. 1600 bucks. If the paint had just stayed intact or even just been scuffed it probably would've been about a 250 dollar job but the metal was showing.

Yeah it sucks. We had new vehicle with only 189 miles get backed into by a high school kid at a tennis court (wife was playing). In the end it is just a vehicle. Call you insurance, get it fixed, and get back enjoying your life.

    That sucks indeed.

While I agree here on the cameras the thing is they only help in extreme situations (accidents, loss of life, etc) where a serious set of circumstances will have any of us or the police actually track down the culprit.
In these cases chances are (and that’s assuming it caught a license plate or something) we will see the action happening but still stuck with all the misery of the aftermath.

Yikes! Yeah, I don't stress over this stuff anymore. now, having my truck shot would be a different matter.

My wife has caused most of the damage on my truck. I got over getting upset after the second dent. It’s a truck and it’s life. Still sucks but oh well

I had a cart hit my 2005 in a storm at Walmart.
I parked next to the curb thing in the parking lot.
The wind blew the cart up and over the curb and it went sideways into my rear door.
Damage was minimal and I never got it fixed.

I park way out from everyone else in my 2014.
I had a stage 2 alarm alert on my phone a few years ago while I was in the local Kroger.
It was a windy day and the wind blew the cart downhill into my truck.
Looks like it bounced off the front door and into the rear door.
    The repair was $1900..
Kroger didn't care and said the cameras didn't reach out that far.
In all honesty, it wasn't their fault some POS didn't put up their cart.
I now usually park on the apex of any parking lot.

    Funny about this post;
I went to Whole Foods this week.
I came out to find a small cart resting up against my front tire..
Don't know if I got lucky with a runaway, or the lazy POS put it there..
I guess I thought better of the tree huggers that shop at Whole Foods..

The laziness of not putting up your cart is astounding.
But as we all know, not many people give a shit anymore.
They weren't bought up that way to respect other people's property like we were..

If I'm walking into any store and someone is just about done putting up their stuff I'll ask them if I can put up their cart for them.
Some are thankful, some are shocked, and some thing I'm going to rob them..:rolleyes::thumbsup:

Running boards/sliders will not help unless your truck is lifted pretty high. The carts front wheels will go under the truck, the running bords will go between the base and the basket, and the basket will hit your truck. Askmeme how I know lol.

Good point! I can see the sliders helping to stop door dings. Not so much if the cart wheels fit under the truck!

Got this fixed today, the tech came to my house. I'd say it is 95% improved. Not perfect but good enough. It is totally unnoticeable from the side but if you get right next to the bodywork and look from front to back you can just make out a hint of a crease. But good enough. $250 well spent.

Pics aren't really necessary. From the side you wouldn't see anything at all. And hard to get one from that other angle that would be clear. You really need to see it in person.

Our local Wal-mart is infamous for this sorta of thing. Often times it's younger people who have tons of energy that are too lazy to push the buggy to the nearest corral. I see them all the time, they'll look around...if they think no one is watching them, they're leave it sit and off the go. Once I seen a cart come down the steep road that leads to this Walmart and went across four lanes of traffic. It was a miracle it didn't cause an accident. I hate this for you, I'm sure it made you half sick!

Weird, around here it's always the older people leaving carts everywhere. Guess I can understand, pushing carts in snow sucks.

It doesn't look too bad. PDR should take care of that.

This is why I have a beater with a heater and probably always will.

After 4 peaceful months, a vicious door dinger did me dirty. Luckily it was just paint transfer for the most part but I need some advice. I was able to remove their paint off the truck but looking at it the clearcoat seems to be etched it's not too noticeable but it hurts lol so in your guy's experience would it be better for me to just leave and give the truck a polish in two-three years or do it now. I say this because knowing my luck and living in the city someone is bound to hit that door again so rather than me cutting down the paint depth now just save it and polish it every year or something to extend the life of the clear coat. Or can you just spray on a new layer of clear if ever needed?

    Too many, but not enough....
Get some rock sliders or at least some steps or boards that stick out a bit. My sliders with the kickout have stopped a number of door dings that leave a small mark on the slider lol. Plus it feels great knowing that the careless one is the one that gets the damage and not you.
