Truck is 1yr 2months old. A few months ago the driver side wiper started bouncing/skipping on the way up really bad, like there is too much pressure pushing down on it. Can the arm get bent out of adjustment? The wiper arm looks pretty stout. I tried moving those adjustable metal pieces that slide on the wiper blade but it didn’t really help. Anybody go through this? The wiper blade probably needs replaced at this point from it bouncing, but want to know why it started doing this and if the arm can be adjusted or what. A new blade or cleaning the widow isn’t going to solve this one.

Its more likely it just wore out. You may have just gotten unlucky as the oem wipers usually last longer. Did you buy your truck soon after the build date or did it sit on a lot for a while? I see snow in your avatar pic, I am sure harsher weather can wear them out faster as well.

It is not your wiper arm suddenly pressing down to hard. It is your wiper blade is shot. The rubber has turned hard and is no longer soft, supple, or forgiving. The blade no longer sweeps, it is to rigid and this is what causes the bounce and skip.

Perhaps yours was built with an older pair of blades unintentionally. Rubber does have a shelf life, even out of the elements.

Change your wiper blades, not your arms and you'll be good to go.

All rubber has gone down hill the last 10 years. I would replace with silicone blades myself.

I’m in northern VA. It’s been a light winter no snow at all, but I do go up to hunting camp in northwest PA and got plenty of ice and snow up there. That’s about when it started, can’t really remember, but probably back in January after muzzleloader season. It was 5 deg out. It’s stored outside in the sun. We’re on year 3.5 for our 2018 Honda Pilot original. The passenger side doesn’t do it at all so that’s why I thought it is not the blade.

Old F150 wiper arms used to do that so that was my first thought, but those were just the single piece of skinny flat bar. I’d bend them back and then good to go.

Definitely think you just got a dud. I would swap it with the passenger side and ride it out another year lol or try to dress the rubber back up with some oil

Wow, I literally just replaced my original wiper blades from July 2017 last weekend. The originals lasted a little over 5 years, 7 months and 85K miles. Very surprised they lasted that long with our AZ heat which tends to dry everything out. New Toyota OEM blades were installed based on how well the originals lasted.

Dealership will give you new set under warranty but they have 2 grades. One is Siteline, cheaper and does not last long. Ask for exactly what is on your vehicle as there is substantial price difference and will cheap out if they can.

Anyone got the link to the oem wipers? Assume we could order this from a Toyota parts site?

I am going to have to go back to OEM. I am on my 3rd set. 1-RainX 2-Valeo. The OEMs didn't last long either but seem that those are the way to go. I only have 30k right now.

Remember that if you do not ask you will get Siteline from the dealer. Ask them if they carry multiple items under the same part and get the better. You will not be sorry

Dealer told me not under warranty after 1 year. Oh well, why would I buy OEM when mine crapped out after 1 year? Do you think the wiper got covid or what?

I thought the same but, after 2 failed wiper brands, I am going back to OEM. I saw the RainX silicone wiper for $38 a piece and reviews weren't great. Others are in the $20-30. The OEM did fail sooner than expected but the other 2 I bought were worse.

How long do ya'll think wiper blades are supposed to last? Its a thin strip of rubber wiping back and forth on glass. Its only going to get so many passes before it wears out. Factor in temp changes, UV rays and whatever chemicals you put on your windshield when washing and that lifespan will shorten. Its a wear item that should probably be changed about the same interval as your oil if you want optimum performance. If you don't live somewhere with a lot of rain and just want them to move water occasionally then you can try to squeeze them for a couple of years, but they won't work very well. Its not like wiper blades are expensive.

Living where it rains everyday, wipers only seem to last a year here. What kills them quick is if you tap them on and any frost/ice is on the windshield. So I usually replace them every spring. What helps prolong life I have found is using rainx additives in the washer fluid and/or sprayed on the window.

    Several years…
The ones in my 2018 Pilot (bought July 2019) are still doing great at 40k miles.

The driver side wiper on the tundra is good.

This one I’m calling a dud.
