I mean, if you order the master tailgater thingy to me I can prep it for ya. No problem. I know exactly what needs to be done but didn't really figure it out till I got mine on the truck. I can use the same exact connector my 3rd gen Tacoma uses. Seriously no trouble at all.

I prep'd mine a bit off the truck, extended power and ground with 18 gauge so I could do the vga and power / ground in the cab rather than ground it locally and source power elsewhere.

Anyways, pretty straightforward as far as I see it, just slacker me didn't get it done.

I didn't drill at all, used the spare tire slot for cables.

    Snorkel!
Took me roughly 5 hours to do. Spent a ton of time just staring at it, and a good amount of time cutting. I botched the initial hole in the fender and put it too low :(. Luckily if I ever want to redo it, I have a brand new fender in storage that just needs paint.

Big thanks to Shane Hoeckel for the custom snorkel adapter for the air box.

I can’t tell what that 12 year old boy was saying, but he definitely failed to utilize the ASSets around him during that video. Perhaps for legal reasons.

@w666 well hopefully I don’t have to go as far as you, I snapped one of the 6 camshaft cover bolts it’s the one that’s supposed to be torqued to 66in lb and I forgot to change my torque wrench from 12 Ft lb that the rest of the camshaft caps are torqued to….I do have a couple threads showing from the bottom though so I may try to get some pliers on it and keep turning it…it also has 4 other bolts that are torqued to 12ft lb and the other little one….we’ll see how it goes.

I did get the drivers side cam cover on ok with no issues…. Until I went to reinstall my valve covers….apparently putting things back how you found them has led me astray. The last Jackwagon that installed my valve covers put the plug seals in upside down. And managed to get them over the spark plug tubes….how I don’t know but 31$ later and autozone next day delivery and I should have new plug seals tomorrow. Pics for reference. B63197E1-C312-450F-8FA2-814C4BF15ECC.jpg
so naturally I installed them the same way…and couldn’t get the VCs back on…shit was bookoo dinky dau. Thinking I was being smart I decided to see if a coil pack would spread the seal out just wide enough to let it slide over the tube. I then noticed that the plastic housing on the coil pack was cracked. So I check the others. 6 total packs are cracked. 663B5EC7-379F-4673-A36B-1019E66CBE38.jpg

Today was fun. I called it a night and came back in to hang out with the fam

So yall know I've been kicking the idea of a CB around for a minute mainly for the PA function of it, but I was talking to pops about it. I learned a lot from the old man. Lot of family history I didn't know.

He said "Follow me, I think I've still got my CBs from the old Ford way back in the day."

Naturally, I perked up and followed pops. He opens this filing cabinet and out come two midland transceivers from the early 90s. Basic units. Nothing fancy. 40 channels each. One unit is just the in cab box. The other one is legit, RTU. I set that dude up faster than you can choke a chicken and I know some of yall are PRO-FESH-E-NOWLS at that. Been laying in crackies passengers seat for the last couple days. I thumb through them channels once or twice a drive with the squelch turned all the way down to hear err-thang.

I pick up a lot of overlap on the superbowl channels. Hard to make out individuals at times. Most of the time it's dead as a door nail on the other 38 channels, but I like the idea of this a lot.

Anyways, here's pop's antenna fir your viewing pleasure.
    20230322_193215.jpg

Yall got any funny antenna toppers saved in them nuggets, post up a link. I'll put whatever one YALL want on crackie. I think this is hilarious

Surprisingly good for the price. My only real complaint is mine has a QC issue with a pinhole at the rear seam about halfway up the tube. I'll probably plastic weld a patch onto it. Oh, and I guess the studs are quite short, I ended up backing all the studs most of the way out just so I had enough threads to get the nuts started on, then I cranked it all down.

I tried the heat gun trick with "meh" success. I may give it another shot some other time. It seems ok for now.

163,40X lol this is the worst one single crack but the rest have multiple smaller cracks. I’m assuming the higher temps from its early life in south Texas are a contributing factor. I had no issues with them thus far so I doubt they’re all the way bad yet but I also don’t want to risk them failing unexpectedly. Would you replace all 8 or only the 6 that are showing damage?

Well, just means that this is easier to use for what I want for road tripping and such. I'll leave thus set up intact. Clean up some of the connectors and wiring, etc and this can be thrown in pops sequioa before a road trip. I'll hard mount a CB in my truck, my car and my girls car.

She used to play CB tag with friends in high-school in the early 2010s. She knows her way around a knob for sure!!!

Anyways, cb being dead here is PERFECT for us.

Went back at diagnosing why my Passenger Headlight wasnt working, got nowhere and now my driver is out too after f-ing with it all.

Fuses are good, relay is clicking fine (even swapped with known good one from other rig), just replaced the headlight switch trying to solve few weeks ago. Old and new ballast/bulbs/igniters have all been swapped to the different configurations as possible. Yet still i got no lights. Even pulled the fuse box apart to check for bad wires (thats a bitch btw) and everything looks good.

Power at the fuses, power at the relay, im at a loss. Whys this system gotta be so damn complicated. Anyone else been this far down rabbit hole with HID headlights?

If they're not misfiring I wouldn't replace them, unless you've got the coin laying around.

If they're misfiring, you should know.

I just put a CB in my side by side the other day. Never really felt like it would have much use in a vehicle. I guess to talk to truckers while you're on the highway or something. May have an antenna for you when you come to get your stuff if you're interested/planning to install in more vehicles. I've also got a CB that I believe just needs a new mic.

Thats kind of where ive lead myself to as well. The thing thats throwing me is that the Drivers light was working fine until today and then suddenly just went dead while chasing the passenger issue, right when i was about done for the day too.

Rainy tomorrow and im supposed to go into town and would be driving home the 45 miles of winding canyon roads in the dark so hopefully i can trace it down and still make the trek.

i've got a cobra 25 i've wanted to mount, but flashing lights communicates with trucks so much better, most arent listening anyway, but apparently nobody uses cb channels on trails anymore.
