Absinthe is like having a poppyseed bagel.

 

Absinthe is just alcohol in the US. In EU it's got wormwood that supposedly has psychedelic affects. But so little is known about it by science and they certainly don't test for wormwood when scientists can't even agree on whether or not the substance is psychoactive

 

That'd be an awesome daytime cocktail for a blender....

 

I've bought the tiny bottles of absinthe in California, at Bevmo.

 

Exactly. I have some frozen pineapple chunks in the freezer. I was thinking I just need coconut milk and rum.
Then throw it in the blender. If that doesn't seem right, I'll add ice and pineapple juice

You made me curious so I went searching the webs. We can buy it in the US but it really doesn't do anything. I had it when I was in Europe and didn't feel any different.

@CodyP , there is nothing in absinthe that would show up on a drug test. It isn't a controller substance.

 

Are Toschi Amareno cherries not in favor anymore? I love those damn things. Only thing better is Luxardos, but I'm not paying 3x as much for what's damn near the same flavor/texture/size.

It's typically easy. Hammer out the old. Insert new and pull it in. Do yourself a favor and go to the LAPS to get a Lisle stud install tool for that last pull-in step. This is a sub-$20 tool every person should have in their toolbox.

 

Oh I don’t know. I heard Bordeaux once and figured that was the go to. They were like $7/jar so not sure it’s worth anything more for ‘better’ cherries but I guess I’ll look for Toschi Amareno ones next time.

 

I dunno if you'll find local. I get mine in a big ass 2lb can on scAmazon for $25. Probably about 6x what's in the jar you bought.

We tend to drink a lot of brown liquor and sotol/mezcal/tequila. Lots of old fashioneds (bourbon or agave-based), manhattans, mezcal negronis, boulevardiers, paper planes. These are smaller, dark, sweet with a little touch of tart, but not cloyingly sweet like a lot of the maraschino-style cherries you buy at the grocery store.

I'm not a hoity toity drinker type, my wife loves a solid cocktail, I'm good with Turkey 101 straight or with ginger. I just like having a tasty snack with whatever I'm sipping on when it's not beer.

PS - those little bastards are awesome for fried pies. Although I dunno if anyone ever knows what fried pies are, I've only seen them down south, SE USA at least.

Yep. Check LAPS if there's one within a mile or two, you can probably get one cheaper there. I prefer Lisle, but there's no reason you couldn't use a stack of washers and lug nut, for example. The Lisle-style tools are just butter.

And honestly, Dorman's studs are just fine for our wheels. And all LAPS carry them, so you may be going there anyway.
