TRD Pro grille back order situation

Looks like you need the hood bulge too. The grille looks fine to me.

 

Above post is correct -- this is the lower portion, you also need the upper, the hood bulge.

 

Actually, the two that I got in were ordered back in March.

Would the hood bulge come faster if ordered by itself?

 

Yes, though you would have to pay two separate shipping charges.

Yes this is an excellent point Roman. With shipping charge my dealer price is close to online, but not full price and Hood will add another $60. If I waited to get both together I probably would have saved at least $50-$60. Its great to have a TRD Pro grille in my hands but I'm not gonna run around with a bi-chrome look lol.

 

How long does it take to get a pro grill in quicksand?

 

ETA I have is late September, though Toyota has been sending some in here and there sporadically. Officially, it'll be late September.

 

When you order it do you get charged right away or do you get charged when it ships? Trying to gets the wife's approval to order more parts haha

I still want to order one but cant at the moment. as for Toyota discontinuing them, that's a dumb move IMO, as many folks out there that desire that part, makes more sense to keep them available.

 

I was still able to do orders on a few parts pages. I think there are so many out there that Toyota IT is having a hard time making the changes. A site I used 48 hours ago now has this written next to a picture that states 'This part is no longer Available for Purchase:

"Currently on Backorder. Call for current ETA! Orders now require a TRD Pro VIN. Please follow this link to purchase a TRD Pro grille with your TRD Pro VIN."

This is messed up as well because if you have a TRD Tundra and you ordered it with your vehicle purchase, you are out of luck until your order arrives from Roman. The other buyers are stuck with going back to the chrome grilles.

 

Hey Roman, thanks for all the updates and help. Couple of questions;
1. So as far as you know we DON"T have to have a TRD Pro vin# to order the grill?
2. Is it possible to order the grill and the bull nose unpainted and have a local paint shop do the painting or do they have to be ordered painted? the reason I ask is I had some damage to my bumper and grill and was going to have the body shop order the front bumper ends and have them paint them. This would be the perfect time to switch to the Pro grill but it sounds like it will be a long wait.

 

No problem.

1. So far, no. They haven't asked me for one yet.
2. Nope, they have to come in painted. Only the Pro colors are offered.

Yep. Probably late September to be safe. Of course, Toyota could change their minds at any moment as well. :/

Most of the hood bulges are still good to go. Some are taking a week or so to arrive, but I have most of them in stock.

 

do you have a part # for just the bull nose in GMG?

 

Just scored one on eBay. Paid almost 2 bills more but decided I wanted it.

mgm. got impatient and went eBay. I had ordered from sparks back in March and got the September date some time ago. decided to cancel the order and see what happened. situation not getting any better so I gave up and paid what is probably retail for it.
