Very beautiful pattern! I can’t quite make out the name on the sheath. Who’s the maker of this one?

So, here’s the finished paring knife from the chainsaw chain canister Damascus. It’s grown on me a bit and I definitely like more now than I did at first. The handle scales are native Oregon white oak, dyed and stabilized.4222D47F-9209-43AE-ACBF-60CE566DDC82.jpg720236AB-96EB-4D4D-9E94-14394F4BE8CE.jpg08978D03-CD7C-43C8-A0B6-6227FD98183B.jpg
The back story is that the chain was given to me by a neighbor and he had been asking me for a paring knife for his wife for a while. 3 days ago he got home from the hospital and they are saying 2 months to live. 1/2 his heart got damaged and they doubt a transplant will be available soon enough. So, I wanted to get this done for him quick so he can give it to his wife

I will miss him 58111C98-F6BB-45E8-9B97-688AC43CD544.jpgBest description is, “A Force of Nature”. Worked harder and longer than anyone I have ever known. Cutting trees municipal contracts from Seattle to Corvallis, from the Gorge to the coast.clearing power lines and roads. Heading out in the worst of weather at all hours (that’s when the trees are coming down). Always had at 3 Harley Davidson bikes.

I know the Benchmade Bugout is tried and true, and I love my mini Bugout. Was looking at picking up a regular sized one but then saw the Bailout. I couldn't find any posts on here, but figured I'd ask if any of our folks here had hands on experience with it and if it would be recommended over a Bugout. In general, they are very similar (pretty sure same steel and handle material). I like the look of the Bailout a little more but it only comes in black on black (for the base model, and I have no issues with this coloring), the Bugout has a lot more color options which is always fun and its just been around longer so its definitely proven. Either way its a ~$200 Benchmade so it won't be a bad choice.

The Bailout comes in more colors than black-on-black:
Benchmade Bailout 537 - Benchmade Tactical Knife | Blade HQ
...but these look like a significant price uplift from your '~$200'

    You can change the scales:
Benchmade Bailout Scales - Archon Series - Contoured - Cerakote | Applied Weapons Tech
Titanium Scales for Benchmade Bailout 537 – Rockscale Design
...but that makes it pricier, too.

    Sorry if this isn't helpful.

I saw the green scales on the Benchmade site but not the blue..... I appreciate the links! I'm just trying to keep the budget around 200 but I may change my mind after looking more at the fun I can have with custom scales

I believe the bailout is a bit more robust and intended for harder use than the bugout. M4 steel I believe

    You just wait
Question for those of you familiar with benchmades. I'm somewhat in the minority, but I actually prefer a knife with some heft to it. I know many of benchmade's knives are pretty light, do they have some heavier models as well?

Their Turret has some heft to it. I compared it to the Claymore because they are about the same size and similar price, but the Claymore was an auto. The Turret feels good in the hand but the Claymore is lighter in the pocket.

1DA6B200-C823-4BF2-8D7A-670C5E49491F.jpg BM bailout has been my regular edc for 3 years now. I have a 1st gen bugout but has rarely any pocket time, not even sure where it’s at currently. Ergos(for my hand) the bailout is way better than the original bugout. Pro-tech strider on the bottom is my newest edc.
