Hello all don't know how may here follow his channel on YouTube but only 4 months after taking ownership he is now looking to sell / trade in. I'm a bit perturbed that these channels get allocated hard to find trucks then turn around shortly afterwards and get rid of them. His reason is it cost more then he wants to spend (facepalm)

What's your thoughts and if your looking might wanna message him on YouTube.

    Shocked! ......not. :/

Have never seen so many 'used' incarnations of an all-new Toyota model. Speaks volumes.

I wouldn’t read into it too far, he probably has his next sponsorship lined up

I don't think $70k is too much for a truck, but if you're paying that much I think you need a lot more utility out of it than you get with a 1/2 ton truck.

Yea I'm out YouTube has been such a mixed bag. Some content creators kill it LLOD, Talon Sei, savagegeese etc then you have these guys who just milk the OEM and viewers Tundradude, TFL I have my 23 limited and I'm outta the market but pissed that real buyers get screwed by this kind of crap and the dude is whining about the cost should have thought of that prior to buying it.

Buy it, hype it, make the money, and get out while the gettin’s still good.

TFL did the same thing. They don’t really care about the truck. They care about their channel and making money. It’s the not-so-new model for the channels that have enough subs and/or sponsors to make it worth it.

First off...this guy uses major clickbait titles all the time. I've watched some of his videos over the years and most of the time I abandon the video about 2-3 minutes in because of the clickbait.

That being said, I watched this one just to make sure there wasn't a "gotcha" moment.

Let me save you some time and give you a quick summary of this video:
    • Long & Short: He's trading it in because he can't afford it/doesn't want the expensive payment anymore. He paid ~$71k for it and the payment is too expensive. Note: His wife also has a brand new 2023 Highlander as well. So, they have 2 fairly large car payments on 2 brand new vehicles. That's tough for most people.
    • He loves the truck and has had zero issues with it.
    • He's trading it and sticking with another 3rd Gen Tundra, but a lower trim so he can get his payments down. Likely getting an SR5 TRD OR or TRD Sport.
I just saved you 8:26 minutes. You're welcome.

Side note: Why he didn't think about the payment before he pulled the trigger on it is beyond me. It's not like he didn't know what the payment was going to be. Oh well. I don't know him or his personal financial situation. One thing though...I'll give him some respect for his transparency on why he is trading it in. I feel like most content creators wouldn't say it's because of personal finances and would pawn it off as some other issue.

Thats so stupid... He's getting rid of 71k truck and will probably still get a 60k truck? Wow, after all of the sales guys commission, reg fees, etc, his monthly payments will be lower a whopping $100/month

    Thx for the summary BTW!

agreed on all fronts just hate the lame excuses and trying to double back oh I'm not selling for profit or flipping. If you really care you would offer to see to a forum member for trade in value but nope going to churn this one for another and oh the prices are too high etc, TD34 is by no means the only one playing this game and in some regards the manufacturer should curtail this as well with a 1 high demand allocation per 24 months or something to that effect. I know I'm living in a dream world here and politicians should have term limits as well. Lol

He’s probably going onto his next sponsor since the newness of the tundra has worn out and he’s not getting as many views according to his YouTube algorithm.

Therefore he has to put a spin on it to again get more views.

yeah guessing his monthly payments were close to 900-1000 per month.

and here i was happy about a $554 payment on the 23 that was the same as our 18 platinum. i was shocked it came out exactly the same amount of $554 @ 60m

Mark is a good guy. He doesn't get sponsored trucks like the big channels and he isn't really into modding/wrenching on his trucks. He truly just loves the Tundra. His only two "sponsors" really are Sparks Parts and Toyota Outfitters. That's it.

In the case of this truck, I think he probably spent more than he should've because he really loved the TRD Pro and thought it would help his channel to have one (which it may have). But now, a few months later, reality is sinking in and he's trying to make a better financial decision going forward. He's thrown around the idea of doing YouTube fulltime but I personally think that would be a huge mistake for him. His channel is just way too niche and mostly just covers Tundra news and some dealership walks (which I have zero interest in). Like I said though, he's a really nice, normal guy.

Dude probably thought his yt views would go up and help cover the truck payment. Sucks but he's gotta do what he's gotta do and major props to him for owning the mistake

Not saying he was given a truck but an allocation Is an allocation who on this board got skipped and will now be screwed by a dealership.
I don't think he's a bad guy personally just think what he did is wrong. Should sell the truck directly to someone who wants it at a reasonable price.

the problem i see is that everyone on yt had a trd pro, at a certain point, no one watches those vids unless you are doing major mods to them.

he prob should have gone the SR5 or limited route from the get go as that would have appealed to a larger audience. heck even trd john went the platinum route instead of going the trd pro route since no one does the other trims.

go with a trim that everyone buys, not the 5-10% people.

Good point however, as I said, Mark really isn't into modding his trucks. He has before, but I get the impression it isn't something he's very familiar with. I think he needs to decide what he wants his channel to be and focus on that. The dealership walks are pointless in my opinion. They're always done in the dark when the place is closed so he can't even open up the trucks. Just a waste. lol

yeah but sunday is the only day dealers are not hounding you, so i see his point on the walks. he can take his time.

he needs to expand like trd john did and not solely focus on one model. he is great for a single toyota model but that really limits his yt audience. i mean i only have him as a sub in regards to tundra stuff but i sub to redline reviews, alex on autos, doug demuro, trd john. i get more info and detailed stuff from all of them compared to mark.

as you said he is very niche in his yt audience. and i fit into his style of not many mods and mostly superficial at that like him. i think the biggest risk he took was the sc in his 2nd gen. that was fun to follow.

TFL dumped the truck way to fast. I wish they had kept it through the summer and really pushed it hard towing with high ambient temperatures. I take 99% of their ike tests with a grain of salt because most of them are in the middle of the winter when their is snow on the ground. My F150 will pull like a locomotive all winter long but summer time is a different story.
