Would $34k be a fair price to buy this 2016 with 67k miles?

Would I be getting ripped off to pay $34k in a private sale for this 2016 5.7 4x4 with 67k miles?

    I just bought a 2020 with 24k miles for 35k.

Seems a little expensive, but maybe if it's in excellent condition?

2016 does NOT have all the nannies. That has value.

Is the seller the original owner (aka single owner)?

It's 4WD and at 66,000 miles is just now broken in. Will you be able to see it in person before making your decision? Get under it? Look in the engine bay? Check the condition of the tires?

If it checks out to your total and complete satisfaction, in the current market, I believe $34K to be a fair price.

What do you mean by nannie's?

This seller is the second owner according to him. He said the previous owner put the lift and airbags and whatnot on it, and he doesn't even know what brand suspension components were used for the lift. Which is surprisingly common as I have been talking to sellers. I can't imagine not knowing what lift is on your truck.

And yes I would be going to look at it before making any decisions

Keep in mind, that’s an SR5, so resale will be lower compared to TRD, Limited, Plat and obviously Pro

You can get a 2021 certified pre owned (meaning 7 year power train warranty) with less than 25k miles for $31,000 from a dealership. I just got that deal 2 weeks ago. No way I’d buy a 7 year old truck with 65k on the clock for that much. Mine is in mint condition and still less money

I have to agree, price seems a little high with the year and miles. I also would not be vehicle shopping on marketplace because of the extend of unknown factors and relying solely on someone telling you the truth. May have to travel outside of the UT area to find a good deal.

Also, mine is a sport. After spending 31k on it, here is how it sits at 35k total 92B142D1-C85E-45FB-96A0-A4DEA75870A8.jpgThe benefit of going through a dealership is you’re really not spending MUCH more, but you’re getting the certified pre owned badge and that goes a long way. Toyota is also giving you a warranty and PIECE OF MIND! You know you aren’t getting screwed with some problems that the owner is hiding.

agreed. I flew out to Texas, picked it up, and drove it to California. The exact same truck 2 hours from my house at a dealership was 7k more. Both were bone stock and within a few thousand miles on the odometer.

the key is to check Toyotas website every day and be the first one to jump on a good deal. You KNOW it’s quality if it’s certified pre owned so there’s almost no risk involved.

Mine was a Toyota certified used also. I found it local when I went to look at a new 2021 TRD Pro. The new truck sold in less than an hour from them listing it. I feel I got a better deal on my used one. Better lucky than good sometimes.

I hadn't really thought about it that way. I have always avoided dealerships and car lots like the plague because they charge such higher prices. But that peace of mind is a good point, at least from an actual Toyota dealership I guess

According to current market stuff, it seems to be at the high end of what folks are paying on avg for this truck ($31-$34k). Are you getting raped at that price, no; as long as everything is good and as it's expected to be within that mileage range.

You have to look at things such as the add-ons to find/negate value in the deal. It's got a lift and TRD OR wheels, a cap, etc... The wheels were probably take offs from a TRD Off-Road Tundra (used), the cap was definitely purchased used (color don't match), my guess is the lift is minimal in terms of quality based on the other parts. I can't see someone spending $3-$6k on a good suspension set up and be driving around w/a cap that don't match.

The cap color does not match; if that bothers you figure that you'll have to put money into getting it painted (which ain't quick or cheap right now), so to me having that cap on the truck doesn't add value to it... If you don't care about color and will run it w/the cap, then it adds some value since you don't have to pay $3k for a new one and wait for it to get delivered.

Same w/the lift; when you drive the truck, do you like how it feels; will you be keeping the lift as is, etc.. If so, then it adds a little value, if not then it negates it... especially if you're wanting to change suspension out to either fix what was done or maybe you already have bigger plans for it.

Think about things from this perspective when looking at any used vehicle.

Finally, don't forget to take the VIN and pop into a Toyota Service department and ask them to check the VIN for unresolved recalls and service history. This won't tell you everything, but it is free insight to some of what transpired.

Good luck on your search and your decision

Depends what model too (sorry don't have fb) as my 16 (made8/16) was around $38k in Jan 2021 with 65k miles ..Have the original sticker as well (53K) so to me a 4yr, 1 owner truck with a 15k + savings was worth it ...esp knowing this 5.7 can go a million if taken care of.
