It certainly was fancy! We flew to Dallas to visit my dad in Greenville then rented a car to use while here. As a result e didn't go through NM. Is there something about the condom machines in NM that I now need to check out?

We drove up to Fort Hood yesterday to do a little tax-free shopping and on the way back we stopped by a German restaurant in Wahlburg, Texas. We stumbled on the place about 10 years ago and had been meaning to go back. It's kinda in the middle of nowhere but that first time we went there was on a Saturday night and the place was packed and hopping. They had a German band playing, people were dancing, there was a bier garten. The hostess asked us if we had a reservation but we lucked out when a couple said they'd share a table with us. Anyways, it was some of the best German food I'd had since being deployed in Germany.

Last night was perfect because they weren't super busy. Turns out the wife of the owner waited on us and her husband opened the place 30 years ago. He came from Munich and wanted to bring a little bit of Bavaria to Texas. I love places like this...

The lights were kinda dim in there so the pics don't do it justice but the food is a chicken Wiener schnitzel with spaetzal and German potato salad, topped with a bier gravy. Dessert was made by their daughter: apple streudel, Black Forest cake, and German Chocolate cake.

I rocked it old school at work today.
Most of our tractors are now automatics, searching for gears from 0 to 50.
This one went 75 MPH, most of our tractors are governed at 68.
I got off 60 minutes earlier than usual..

 

The grilled cheese truck is epic!!

 

Oh man I’d be there every weekend. Miss the real authentic German food. Very cool, thanks for sharing.

 

I have a friend that drives tractors for UPS. Actually ran into him at a rest stop on I5 yesterday coming back from picking up my sliders.

 

We made a last minute decision to drive to Dallas to see Dealey Plaza. @Mrs. WBW had never seen it and it is history.

On the way back to Greenville, we stopped at the Terrell Buc-ee's on I-20.

We were at my Dad's house when the hailstorm was blowing through.we watched the news coverage on the storm as it was pummeling Arlington, then Dallas and Rockwall. A second storm, if I remember correctly, came through Forney as well. All we got in Greenville was heavy rain. @Mrs. WBW was blown away by the news telling residents to "take cover away from windows" and the reports of tennis ball sized hail. We don't usually get that size hail in AZ.

I actually miss driving those , except it is missing numbers on both low & high side..

 

I hate the automatics.
The delay in switching the first 7 gears is infuriating..
Not to mention trying to feather the accelerator pedal when backing up.
It's either all or nothing trying to back under a trailer or backing up to a dock door..

When Severino started to switch over they tried both the Eaton & Allison...The Allison won hands down for all the reasons you mentioned...

The tractor fleet actually switched to all 18 speeds with a clutch as the Auto-shift would not react correctly during down shifts... nothing like having

an excavator on your back and a computer that can't decide to up or down shift entering a job site

It sounds like a @War Machine & @Outbound father and son collaboration to me. Except there would be an exact duplicate of the food trailer next to it and they’d be yelling obscenities at eachother.
