Hey - what was the revision timeline and experience? I've had both shoulders done. The oldest scope (left) is still perfect after maybe 17 years or so. The later one/right is about 12 years old, and isn't really doing all that great. Probably looking at 1 - 2 years on a second go depending on how sedentary I stay. Neither were really great experiences, and I'm sure the revision wouldn't be either...

Heh. In my case, I had to get both of them revised pretty quickly because the guy that did the first two didn't do the greatest job. In the attached picture....realize that was done with no painkiller to my shoulder, just general anesthesia. Crushing pain as soon as I woke up.

Anyways, left shoulder was done in 2007, right in 2008. Left was revised in 2012, right in 2015.

Left shoulder is doing just ducky. Right is....alright. Full function, not limited at all, but there is some popping and stuff. I plan on having an MRI done, because while I have very little pain at all...I also have an insane pain threshold. For example, I broke my ankle in May 2010. I was later informed in December that I broke it in May. LOL

In my experience both revisions were no big deal but that's because of the hack job I had done on both shoulders first  It basically will come down, IMHO, to how 'much' needs to be revised. The guy missed some bone spurs the first time around and my body generates a *TON* of scar tissue, so the right revision was rougher than the left, but given quality of life and all that, I'd still do it all over again. :) Happy to answer any other questions.

Man, times like today where I know with absolute certainty I should take advantage of the fairly decent temperatures and get some exercise and I am just absolutely struggling to do so.

I think just how people on the forums are helping me hang on to my truck by constantly saying that I won't, I need people to constantly say that I won't eat a healthy diet and exercise often lol

Well, it's raining out, I guess there's no better time to go for a walk lol. Good time to try out my new expensive raincoat that isn't long enough because my torso is dumb long and also perhaps my abdomen is a little larger than it should be

I lied. Why on Earth would I wear a jacket that I hate. What kind of rain jacket doesn't cover my junk or my ass?
HMM! A bad one. Anybody in here interested in an expensive extra large Columbia rain jacket for a good price?

thank you sir. both of mine were orthoscopic - I wouldn't have liked being whacked open like that. Hopefully that's not in the cards for me. Just sitting here, there's no pain (before surgeries, both shoulders would hurt all the time). But if I try to do anything that taxes the shoulder more than a bit, it starts biting me... We'll see.

Yeah, was not too much fun.

I didn't know that's how it WASN'T done until I got the revision in 2012. They were using this device to determine exactly where my nerve was; turns out the nerve that goes to your shoulder is right on top of the nerve that controls your sympathetic breathing (automatic). The device both delivers numbing agent and a minute electrical shock.

Anyways, as a nerd I was asking all about it. The nurse anesthetist was sort of a 'bro' and was semi-making fun of me, until I said "No, I'm asking questions because I've never seen this before." He said "But...you had this surgery, and open at that. SURELY they gave you a nerve block?"

I told him "If that's how it's done...then, ah, nope." Wife confirmed.

I then endured about 5 minutes of "Holy sh*t he had surgery with NO nerve block! Holy hell look at that incision! OMG!" LOL

But yeah, the orthoscopic revision wasn't a big deal, at least on the left. Right hurt like hell for a long time but only because to get the bone spurs they had to go almost all the way to the marrow.
