On a different topic, for the Toyota Integrated dashcam, does anyone know what G-Sensor level is the most sensitive.

the manual only gives this info:

“Sets the sensitivity level of the G sensor that allows automatic triggering of event recording while continuous recording is in progress.

    1/2/3/4/5/6”

    TIA

My tundra came with the camera. While I like the quality of the videos, accessing them is a pain in the rear.

I end up having to turn off all auto join wifi networks other than the dash cam, open the app, try to access only to be told not able to access, go back into wifi, re join the wifi for the dashcam, go back to the app, rinse and repeat, then the dashcam times out and I have to hold the wifi button down again, then rinse and repeat a few more times until I can finally connect.

I would rather the truck not have the dash cam and have thought about removing it.

I dunno…I guess I never messed with that setting but I can tell you every large/deep pothole I hit or un-bevelled road edge I drop off it beeps and start to save that part of the recording as if something hit it…so I am pleased it will record if it gets hit

Mine was OK until I pulled the SD card out to see what the capacity was (with the truck and camera off). After I reinserted it, I started the truck and it started beeping and flashing as others are describing. I tried reformatting the SD card with the app, tried removing and re-inserting it (power off) then reformatting it again, but it still beeps like crazy until I turn it off. I'm going to try reformatting the SD card with my laptop as was suggested, but I suspect the factory SD is a just piece of junk (plus it's only 16GB). I ordered a 256 GB SD card and will try that; hopefully it's not too much for the dashcam. Should have just kept my hands off the darned thing.

I have a 2023 Platinum hybrid with the dashcam option and I don't even know how to use it. How can I see the video?

So I have always wondered. Why can’t we have something that plugs into the truck and uses the existing 5 camera (6 if you count the one in the windshield) feeds and records from them? Kinda like how teslas can use the built in cameras as dash cams. Maybe this already exists?

It's high tone / low tone with lights flashing sequentially.

Yes, I tried reinserting it 3 or 4 times. I'll try again, then try to reformat with the app again.

On a different note, I bought a 256GB industrial grade micro SD card online to replace it because I want more capacity, but I was looking through the app today and it said the dashcam recognizes up to 128GB. Still going to try it when it gets here, but I might just switch it out with the 128GB card in my phone.

When I had them install it with the purchase, I was under the misconception that the dashcam was truly integrated (with the infotainment system), not just tied into the vehicle power. It also has some funky limitations as far as having to disconnect from Android Auto before connecting to it with the app. I do like that it looks like part of the truck, but if I had to do it again, I think I would have bought a cheaper (and probably more capable) aftermarket system.

I'll let you know if I can get the OEM card to work.

Just tagging on this thread. Purchased a larger mini SD card thinking it was plug and play. Not the case put the factory back in. Still haven’t successfully been able to view on the app. Only way I can see the video is plugging it in my laptop.

any advice on the App and formatting a larger SD card would be cool!

some dashcam software will not recognize sd card sizes bigger than whats hard coded into the os. so just dumping a larger sd size will not work. i know 3rd party dash cams they are pretty adamant you cant go larger and a lot of oem's are using 3rd party os/hardware that follows along those same guidelines.

if i am guessing, the hard coded size limitation is due to how rolling overwrites work and if the card is bigger than what is expected and it not coded into the os on how to compensate for this.

i would say they re-use older dashcam software and just slightly tweak it for newer dashcams to push them out faster.

also forgot to add, quality of sd card can matter sometimes. cheaper ones tend to not be recognized at times or format correctly.

also correctly formatting them prior to installing seems to be an issue for oem dashcams. 3rd party cams usually let you format them while they are installed in the cam.

not sure if the newer oem cams let you format after installing. havent used an oem before and will never since you can get better features with 3rd party cams at the same price or cheaper than oem pricing.

A little of topic....I just had a Lexus dash cam put in my wife's car. Downloaded the app onto a iPhone 14. Camera records to the Sim. The phone wifi can connect to the camera. The APP will not connect to the camera, so I cannot see the videos via app, I need to pull the sim card and show it in a computer,

We have reloaded the app, tried a different iPhone .....zero success. The Lexus and Toyota cams/apps are the same.

Has anyone installed a camera this year in a Toyota and made the app work on an iPhone.....because the Lexus dealer doesnt seem to know shit....and I'm about 1 day away from ripping it out taking it back to the dealer

I just ordered my 3rd cam today. The one that I got from Toyota appeared to work but I wasn't able to do anything with it so I just gave up on it (I couldn't connect to it to see any of the videos). I went to a Garmin 67W and it lasted a day and quit working so back it went and now I am waiting on a BlackVue 900. I really hope that this one works.

I’ve had my Blackvue 900 for several years now and have taken it with me through multiple cars. Works great in the Tundra.

waiting for it to warm up to install the viofo a129 single camera (can always add a rear later)

would love to afford a blackvue 900 series, but ugh $450 for it kinda pushes me out

    and the new

Ya the BlackVue is a tad pricey but the single channel one (just for the front) was $400 Canuck bucks. So a little more than the Garmin 67W.

With the rear window that goes up and down in the Crewmax, where would the rear camera be installed?

some from what i have seen on the 2nd gen and 4runner, you have to install a bracket under the headliner to mount one. i vaguely remember seeing a YT video on the process.

I've posted pics and links to the little bracket you need to mount one back there. It's held in place by the weatherstripping.

    Question

Can one install the toyota cam without going to the dealer? I was not sure it the dealer has to configure the cam with the on board computer etc.

BMW motorcycles are notorious for throwing errors when you add any BMW accessory but not be blessed by Uncle Fritz.

1/ The micro SD card that came with the camera can be format/reformat using the Toyota Dashcam App
2/ I have Samsung Pro 128GB micro SD card installed; they work well in Florida's heat. The SD card was pre-formatted with FAT32 on my laptop using MiniTool Partition Wizard 12.7 (free version). Tried Windows Powershell which took a long time then error-ed out.
3/ I'm using Toyota Integrated Dashcam app as well. I don't trust non-Toyota app

I searched and found the toyota install pdf on it with template.

The video is ok for certain references but taking out the console out of the ceiling I didnt like using the plastic tool dry tool.
I have one and while installing it I heard noises with the plastic I didnt like. In addition if it pushes into the ceiling material it can damage it.
Just rolling your fingertip under it, mine just popped off.

Didnt really have any problems connecting to it to my iphone. Configuring it, wasnt to painful at all.

Wish I could give you an answer. My phone is an iphone 14. Press the wifi button on the cam (for two seconds) then let it find the dash cams SSID. (wifi name) on the phones wifi. Even changed the default wifi password as per what it recommended. worked ok, not instant.

My phone is an Android. Like others mentioned, I have to turn off bluetooth to be able to connect to Dashcam's wifi. When my phone connected to Dashcam's wifi, it would drop the connection within 10 seconds because of no internet access detected. I have to change the settings to forced it stay connected regardless there is internet access or not.
