This echos my recent experience with them as well.

In my case, retuning my intake/MAF would have meant from scratch and required reverting/reinstalling stock parts to eliminate variables. It also required buying additional components for logging. I completely understand why they want to do that but it undercut the convenience of remote tuning with them.

Said no one in the Beltway.

All kidding aside it probably is easily done with some careful route planning and careful monitoring of their boost gauge. Stock tune has some wiggle room before engine go boom.

    I'm a fine example of that...I ran untuned S/C 6psi for months.

that is...before this forum educated me.

Lmao I made it without a boost gauge, it wasn't installed yet  I had the radio off and had to listen to the turbos spooling and pay attention to the change in sound from spool to boost lol

I just checked my sent email. It was Master Yota and not YW. Ignore me, I was incorrect!

You guys act like staying out of boost is hard. Just ease the gas. Use as low an rpm as possible. It ain’t hard. God dang excited children is what y’all act like.

Boosting a Tundra sure seems complicated. Planning to boost my Tundra after decades of Cummins turbo diesel’s.
Been reading everything I can and still not sure what to do, turbo or which supercharger. Only interested in increased lower rpm torque for towing a 6,000lb boat. Still have a diesel 2500 for heavier stuff. Almost 6,000 miles on a 2021 Tundra.

SC is better for low end linear power. It pulls immediately.

Verdict is still out on this sized turbo as the power comes on latter in the RPM according to the dyno graph shared earlier.

Generic tubro kits have warnings on their product and tell you not to tow with their kits installed. It is also worth noting they don't offer meth cooling with those kits as this kit does. If we are talking the AEM meth spray kit linked earlier, the vendor claims it has just shy of ~8mins of spray at full pressure using their 1.15 gallon tank. How far does that go in a towing situation would depend on common conditions to you. I would expect to be refilling that tank often on an extended pull.

I’ve been reading your posts and value your advice. Was guessing that a small supercharger would excel at low rpm power but only have experience with turbos. Sizes, drive pressures etc with diesel turbo can really be tuned to what you want. Compound turbos complicate things a bit but have their place.

I’ve ran meth in competition sled pulling and towing. Agree that it takes too big of tank to be practical in diesel towing. Even water injection helps with EGTs on a diesel, EGT being the major hp limit. No experience with gassers.

A Magnuson is probably in my future.

Now that is a pretty cool back story!

Thank you but by no means an expert so take my comments with a grain of "salt". Others have many more years of experience than I could ever accumulate.

Compound turbo seems like it would be the way to go for a broader power band just not sure how practical it is on a gasser. I've been looking for gasser truck examples w/compounds; all the content I found was for diesels where heat is less of a concern. Tundra seems to be sensitive to heat due to tight ring gaps and piston melting.

    Good choice with the Magnuson

    Funny guy.

Never boost tune: Idle Revs = Max Revs.

Does this thing have a BOV? Vent to air. Keep the MAF on it's toes.

    Follow for more tips.

    Any updates?

As somewhat of an aside, anybody here watch Engine Masters on Motortrend? Season 8 Episode 1; they just had an interesting shootout looking at IAT's and power running a non-intercooled and intercooled turbo. Made a few interesting points and observations. I don't want to spoil it, but Mr Brule made note of filter and air intake placement, as well as boost compared to IAT to make the same power.

The episode is up on Amazon Prime or on Motortrend+ and can be watched on a free 7 trial.

As noted Mr. Brule makes some critical comments on mounting air filtration behind the radiator but they don't actually test that.

Unless I am missing a finer nuanced point, the video is discussing how proper charge temp management allows you to reduce detonation/increase power.

I don't think it adds anything to the conversation that hasn't been discussed by some of the linked Holdener vids but @blenton may beg to differ with this point.

Was told the truck will be dialed in to 7 to 8 PSI and then do a dyno run. Said it is PLENTY FAST right now!!!:)

Just going with the flow because I do not want to upset the apple cart with good luck wishes or any of that phooooey!!!

It does sound like a piece of awesomeness though!!:) Can’t wait.
