Mobil1 69'd me for the issues I had with their 75w90 LS fluid. So, point of note: If you ever have problems with Mobil1 products, hit 'em up. All I did was send them an email to complain, nicely. They didn't even list their product as compatible with my truck in their part finder, they still paid me. That's a good company any day. I didn't even hafta be an asshole, they were simply as nice as could be.

I gotta order the cowl stuff so I’ll do these with it.

 

I think it’s mostly personal preference today since it’s all made in China. If you asked 20-30 years ago it would have definitely been either Dewalt or Porter Cable for me.

I think the ideal HT setup is totally modular, permitting easy swap of any component, speaker, amp, etc. Lots of curtains and carpet or rugs. Leather recliners. Wire chases everywhere so you can redo any piece of cable. Clean dedicated power. No windows, dimmed lighting. Would be cool, but tough to dedicate the space to it unless you have more than you need. Most HT rooms double as living areas for real people doing real things, that's where it all becomes too much headache to tinker with.

 

Thanks @Jack McCarthy, I pulled it because I did a little digging and saw enough people saying they loved the Milwaukee stuff, I may have gotten a little impulsive with my purchase but I think it’ll be worth it sooner or later

From the definitive leak thread:

Cowl fasteners (all models) - The plastic fasteners that receive the screws to hold down our black plastic cowl vent cover have a foam seal that breaks down over time, allowing a leak over the blower motor area into the passenger floorboard. Scroll to the end of this thread to see a video of what I'm referencing. This usually manifests during water events like rainstorms and car washes. Toyota replacement p/n for the plastic fasteners that leak, with new foams, is 90080-18055 and can be ordered to replace the existing parts. To fix, you need to remove both wipers, remove the black plastic grille from the cowl via its screws/snaps, find the fastener clips, remove the original cow fasteners and clean out the old gasket material, then either re-seal the original fastener with a marine-grade sealant or replace the part entirely (OEM is $1-2/ea). You'll probably want to buy a couple of the other little white and black plastic snaps helping holding the cowl down, they like to break when you pop up the cowl, more info and part numbers for those other small clips are here. (6 of each)​

There's plenty out there but a quick search turned up none for the best gen.

Having just accomplished this couple months back with windshield replacement, it's not that difficult. The below instructions from FSM should help.

The step I recommend paying attention to before removal are the wiper arm placement....mark on windshield with a few inches of painters tape.

The 8 screws across the top holding cowl in place are torque screws with 5 pop anchor buttons across bottom.

 

I'll agree and disagree, both sides need to know when to pick their battles you can't keep a score card on everything. But yeah one side should never have all the answers.

What all do these help with? I read the description but figured they probably have other benefits too? My turn signals are not LED.

 

Most noticeable is, tap to signal, programmable # of flashes, default is 4? I am on default. So, like more modern taco/tundra where if you push the stalk you get a freeway lane change w auto reset, good enough to say "I'm going, get outta my way" sorta thing.
Hazards also programmable, default is double flash, I'm on default again. A bit more eye catching than standard flash.
Pretty minor stuff but mostly b/c it's future-proof on LED bulbs for turns and I'll get around to installing my vleds someday. I did both Taco and Tundra but I Taco is only a go b/c no DRL.

Wish I had push-up on stalk for one swipe wipers, wondering if sequoia stalk has that...

 

I wish our trucks would let me turn on my fog lights with just the parking lights. I'm sure there is a way but I haven't looked into it.

 

Isn't there an anytime fog light mod? Not sure I’ve seen the FGT equivalent, but I know there’s one for the 2G

 

Sounds familiar but I don't remember it being mentioned in a long time. I did unplug my daytime running lights so I at least have some control over the headlights. Anytime fogs would be nice.
