And I may have found my motorcycle.

The freight is unavoidable and stated right on the Honda website, and the setup and doc combined are only $200. A buck under $8k out the door.:goingcrazy:

Maiden voyage success after a minor setback. Wife caught me on the driveway camera and yelled at me.

Had a leak at the headers on cylinders 3 and 4 due to a bad install by previous owner. Unseated and bent the flanges by overtorquing. Caused corrosion over time at the neck that was letting exhaust escape causing lag at 25% throttle. Pulled, sanded, and used some exhaust cement to gap it. If it lasts a season....I'll be happy.

Resprung with Ktechs for 185lbs. Made some DIY aluminum mounting tabs for the track fairings where previously zip ties were used. Little odds and ends buttoned up.

Ready for April 7th at Summit SPC.

If the bloody weather would cooperate I would have already bought it. Can't get the trailer out of my yard right now, and I still need to clear space in the storage unit for the bike to live in during the winter. I keep looking at the pics the dealer sent me, though.

That's rad! WC frame guards and radiator braces first thing to go on any of our bikes.

Always loved the look of that Fonseca bike.

I did some last week. 'Bout had a heart attack. Planned to get back at it the next day, and mother nature threw more snow and wind at it and undid everything I had dug out the day before. We've had storms everyday since. :facepalm:I may have to go outside my comfort zone and ask my neighbor across the road if I can hire out his backhoe or borrow it.

Stumbled across another video on the CB500X today. This guy has one of the first generation ones from 2013, and rolled over the 100K KM (62K+ mile) mark on it. That's my hope for this bike. To get it, learn, and build my confidence and skills to where I can run it for years and stack up the miles.

That’s enough to beat the determination out of a guy. o_O

Had a minute to watch that video, I’m intrigued to say the least. I honestly didn’t know the CB500x existed until now.

I watch fortnine. I like the way he does his videos. Mikeonbikes was good for learning, revzilla for gear reviews, bike reviews and entertainment. They did one where they tried the Dumb and Dumber ride. That was highly entertaining. Motojitsu for fundamentals, motostars and motomadness for close calls and crashes. Basically a what not to do. I watch bikes and beards every once in a while. Used to watch yammienoob till he fired his main guy so he could be in more videos. Total dick move. But that guy made his own channel, spitescorner, so I subbed to him. He's more ADV focused. That's about it.

    I love your Husqvarnas!

    :D

Damn dude. They taught us on Z125s over 2 days in a parking lot. After that you're "good to go". Want a 600? Go for it. Liter bike? Fuck it. I got a ninja 650, which is about the max for a new rider.

No way I would pay MSRP for a bike that is already a year old. Try and get a better price!

Ditto but a lot of the dealers are still riding that bs ‘market adjustment/supply chain’ wave.
I got a leftover ‘22 Diavel knocked down $2k and a ‘22 Desert Sled down $1k currently but trying to make a decision.. a lot of bs I get is ‘its spring, bikes are selling so I cant move on price’ (even though its a leftover from the prior year) or they drop the price and hammer their pita fees on claiming they cant waive them. I was a parts and sales manager at the local shop for several years and its amusing af to play their games with them.
Now is also the worst time to buy a bike around my area and have any negotiating power because the dealers hinge their bets on the spring-fever buyers.

Thing is, it's no different than the 2023, which is up another hundred or two in MSRP. That, and finding one at all has been super hard. The major bonus is that they hold value insanely well. 3-4 year old versions with 1500-5000 miles are selling for 5-8K. It's bonkers. I'm also justifying it because it'll wipe out a few grand in debt I have on the side by side.

Damn. That bike is beefy looking. The way there is so little gap between the front tire and the rest of the bike makes the whole thing seem effing huge! How does it ride?

Just ordered a helmet, gloves, and tie down straps using one of Dork in the Road's affiliate links. Hoping he gets a fat piece of that damn Arai helmet money I just spent. Hoping even more it fits my fat head.

I drove 2 hours to one, and they didn't have shit in anything above LG, and 90% of their stock was Sedici or Bilt. They're pushing their brands pretty hard. The site said they had both helmets I wanted to try out in stock in 2XL or I wouldn't have bothered. With what that cost in fuel, I can pay shipping a few times to get it right and still come out ahead.
