Public phone boxes and asking strangers for directions. Saturday mornings when every bloke in the street had his head under the hood maintaining his vehicle. Shagging 18 year olds...

Turning down the idle on the carburetor so you’ll pass smog testing because you didn’t have a $20 bill on you to bribe the guy to just give you an inspection sticker anyway.

Having to jam a screwdriver into the throttle plate to keep it open so you can start the car.

Kicking the skinny pedal to the floor to get it to come off fast idle after warming up. I still catch myself thinking about doing this every now and then. :anonymous:

I also remember on my old 67 Camaro, the windshield wiper motor went out, and they were so damn expensive I couldn’t afford one, so I took pieces of rope and tied them to the windshield wipers and they came inside on each side of the car and you would swing the pieces of rope back and forth to use for a windshield wiper

Had a broke down '71 Beetle for a year or so in the late 80's. It ran on 3 cylinders for a time. Had to push start it for a couple of weeks. Engine caught on fire once (got put out before it ruined everything). But the long story about it was that it was one of the best cars I could have had given my life at the time. Doesn't feel like that long ago now that I'm reminiscing.
