    Hello,

thanks for the add. First time post for a newbie. I’m purchasing a 2023 1794 with TRD package. Also I’m adding a 3” Toyota lift.

would anyone know if I’d be able to successfully run Nitto Recon Grapplers size 295/65r20’s without trimming anything or rubbing? Thanks!

Yes, 20” stock wheels and yes Toyota makes a 3” TRD lift kit which doesn’t void warranty

I have the same truck with the TRD lift and 35x12.5 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I did not do any trimming and have only a very very minor rub on the OEM mudflap - but I am just going to trim that on the inside about 1" and it won't be a problem (and not visible)

I have that lift on my 1794 offroad. I went with that tire first, and had slight rubbing on the control arm. Stepped down to the 285/65-20 and problem solved. In the installation instructions Toyota states that anything larger than 285's will rub. Would have saved me a trip back to tire store.

But would a spacer have allowed you to run the tires? Or had to run the 285’s?

I suppose, and that is what a lot of people do I guess, but in my view spacers add a lot of stress to the mounting, and I tow and didn't want the effects or risk of it. And to be honest, it rides better, turns better and the weight of the narrow tires is all plus to me. Each his own I suppose, but if you have the chance to ride with both, I would think most would chose the 285's for ride quality. I have the flotation tires on a 2011 tundra, and I would take the 285 any day. when I replace the 35's, it will be with the 285's on that ride too.

Are you saying your originally had 35x12.5 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and were getting control arm rubbing? Did you keep the stock TRD 20" OR wheels?

I don't understand how we have the same truck...same lift...and you had rubbing and I don't.... Mine is a 6.5' bed, but I can't imagine that makes a difference.

    Rubbing issue here aswell.
Factory lift, 20" wheels on Nitto installed by them and yes when trying to do a U-turn, it rubs the sway bar.
Spidertrax 1" Spacers are coming up.

Wondering if I am not getting rubbing because I didn't install the sway bar end links that came with the kit - I kept factory so the sway bar is hidden under the TRD skid plate.

@Taikowaza I know you changed your setup...are you getting sway bar rubbing now?

Installed the Spidertrax 1" spacers and it has resolved the turning rub. It also made it handle much better, improved the stability feeling, very happy.

Hi R2theD2! I did not remark on any sway bar rubbing prior to, or after installing the TRD lift kit sway bar spacer/end links.

I will say however that the ride is much, much improved since installing the remaining full kit parts by adding the spacer and relocating the sway bar outside the skidplate.

I want to apologize if I influenced you (or anyone) with my posts encouraging keeping the stock end links/sway bar protected under the TRD skid. The kit’s sway bar spacer makes a major difference in the overall ride quality and flex of the front coilovers.

If there had been any rubbing on my sway bar prior, is that something I could see evidence of now (missing paint, damage to sway bar or tire etc?). I’ll be happy to check if helpful.

Reviewing the posts above, pls note that I’m running metric 285/65R20, not inch flotation which has kept my tires well within width limits and I’ve not yet remarked on any rub.

I kept the stock TRD OR 20" wheels, at full lock I had rubbing on the sway bar. I did the sway bar drop for handling, and that might be the difference.
