it is designed to help only in areas affected most by climate change, it will only warm your truck up or cool it down by a predetermined amount
based on government numbers and guidance.

Not trying to be an ass, but once again, the issue is not the temp and fan settings. It's the ability to push the defrost buttons for defrost only and the the sides and rear window and have those come on again upon restart. I'm being told by one person that theirs works but no one else seems to have that working.

Functionally the 22 and 23 units are identical, there are extremely slight hardware changes due to production constraints, but there are not any different features in the head units.

Constructive feedback is always appreciated. I've been getting tons of PMs where users tell me they'll never buy another Toyota and call the truck garbage without actually telling me what their issues have been. Not really that useful lol

If you read the last two sentences of my post that you replied to, you'll see that defrost is not expected to be part of the climate memory, but i think it can be added in a future update. It's probably on the backlog already.

Yes, I know that. But ole boy in this thread is saying it does. Mine doesn't and many others don't as well, so I'm wondering what the deal is and if his actually works that way. I haven't seen anyone else claim theirs stay on anywhere I've looked in the 3rd gen forum. I asked for a video to show it working on his truck so maybe I can see if I'm doing something different or what. And if his does and mine isn't, I can show the dealership what I'm talking about and proof mine is not functioning the way his is.

It would be pretty damn helpful for you to post a quick video of yours working the way so many of ours aren't. A guy who apparently works for Toyota is saying it's not possible and you're saying it is. So what the heck is the real answer?

To clarify, I never said it wasn't possible. Its not expected but i'm not 100% sure since I never worked on the HVAC controls. I do know a TON about the head units since I worked directly on the design and revisions on them.

As of right now, is the defrost not part of the climate memory functions? If not, do you have any idea what could be the difference in his working and others not?

I asked specifically if you were sure about it remembering defrost buttons and you said "100%" I'm not arguing that it remembers the temp, fan speed and mode as that works correctly in my truck. That wasn't the issue I was talking about. The other guy first brought up wanting the functionality of defrost only and that's what started this convo, not sure where that went wrong but there's clearly some crossed wires and misunderstanding here. My issue and the issue originally brought up was the defrost feature not sticking for shutoff and restart, not the climate settings.

Are the heated seats and heated wheel supposed to engage with remote start? Mine don't.
    Climate settings work well though.

I'm curious if he was referring to defrost only or the climate control mode setting that is defrost and feet. Below zero and snow/ice on my windshield didn't affect whether or not the defrost only came on. Believe me, I tried.

Mine seem to work ok with remote start. When I get in, the seat and wheel are noticeably less cold, but not really warm. But once I start it back up, they get hot fast. Not sure why it doesn't seem to get as warm remote started as it does with the key in.

Must be on higher trims than Limited then. I leave heated seats and wheel ON before shutting down, but the two only kick in when started normally.
Dealer said they couldn't adjust. Can't be right.

Yes, that is set to OFF. Are you saying if I turn that on, my heated seats and heated wheel will work with remote start? Please say yes.

Thanks Ryan! I read somewhere that a plug may have been wired incorrectly during assembly (mine was an early build, Dec. 2021) as I've heard others do have heated seats and wheel with remote start while others don't. But when I raised it with my dealer (who is pretty good at service) they said it wasn't possible. Would love to know for certain if it's supposed to work. Sure would be nice.

My heated seats & wheel do work as ‘memory’ settings. If I have them on when I shut truck off, they come on automatically when I start truck next time as with most other hvac settings, But no defrosters -

well i dont think toyota will change thier way since they see it as a security and safety issue to shut off the vehicle when you open a door after a remote start.

So given the usual history, that might trickle down to the Tundra mid Gen 4, right?

i mean if they treated it like how our 2018 with a key worked that would be great.

the truck would shut off if you pressed the brake or took it out of park before inserting the key and turning it to on. if they did the same for the PTS system to notice key proximity before pressing the brake to take it out of park (or the bypass slot) and not shut off that would be great.

i mean the dam truck beeps like hell if i open the door, close it and walk over to the sub-division mail box.

Given Toyota's history of refreshing these trucks, that will be 14 years for the 4th gen, plus 7 years for the refresh, so let's all look forward to 2044!

Set my controls last nite after turning the AC from auto to off in the Head Panel.
temp to HI, Front window defrost on, Heated seat and steering wheel on.
Temp Stayed on HI, Steering wheel and seats showed on but I felt they did not heat until I sat down, Front window defrost switch lite was NOT on.

So, I have noticed on my 2022 that when I use the remote start the rear window defrost comes on automatically. Not sure about the front, as it isn't as obvious from the outside, but I suspect so. Mine is a Canadian SR5 offroad crewmax.

I know there has been a lot of hate with the climate controls, but I leave mine set to 18C (65F) on the windshield and floor setting and auto fan and never touch it. Works fine for all the temperatures here this winter (0 to -20c) (32 to -4F)

And the rear window will start to melt off along the "defrost lines" before you can notice anything melting on the front windshield.

I meant what was the temp outside when you've noticed the rear window defrost on when you remote started? As a couple of members posted on here, that component isn't tied to the climate memory but could possibly be tied to outside temp and an algorithm of some sort. I couldn't really find anything in the manual about it. I would love to be able to push the buttons for defrost only and the side mirror/rear window defrost and have it stay on when I remote start the next morning.
