We have a lot of issues like that with our on call. Back up is supposed to answer the call, but shift pay isn’t there like it is for the on call guy…….. I guess I’m not answering if I’m not getting paid……

 

Any push would likely result in the schedule being nuked to some 3 shift bullshit. I'm not complaining about the pay, mind you. It makes it easier to just use vacation for nights, never for days. The only reason there is "less" money on nights is because of the way the OT resets at 12AM Sunday. It makes for 4 hours of OT on a night shift pay schedule and 8 hours of OT on the dayshift. The hourly rate is the same.

 

Yeah we have shotty pay scales like that too, bummer

 

Totally worth it for the schedule. The Wed-Tue schedule actually makes it so no check is ever super short/small. Our pay periods are the 1st to the 15th and then the 16th to the end of the month, and February would be a bear if it was Sun-Sat instead. I also think they'd shit bricks at the OT and nuke the schedule. Kind of a silly mindset of paying more money for benefits and additional bodies, but that's ok as long as there isn't any OT. It's a weird mindset that people get into.

 

Nothing wrong with getting sleep! I'm hoping to go home in a couple hours and go right to sleep for 10 hours.

 

So far I'm lucky to pull 5 hours without waking up for some reason or another. Super glad I'm not dreaming though. That always messes up my rest. So, with your old man bed time, you rested and feeling good?

 

I vote for a pretty redhead, but I'm biased.


If you're off for the day, take Raina out for an adventure! Dogs are awesome and deserve more of our time.

 

I hear you, but I'd tailor the adventure to her then. I assume she loved the truck ride, so make it a ride with a few short stops so she can play, but warm up on the way to the next destination.

 

Oh? She hates them, or she is so excited she cannot be controlled?

 

That's a good day for her then! Dogs are worth it. Do you have a harness that clips into the seatbelts to keep her in place?

 

The way you drive... I'd definitely keep her in the cab.

 

Another big worry, and why I would never put my dog outside the cab, is that it's too easy for something to come up and cause a distraction that leads to forgetting the dog. A good friend of mine lost his dog when his GF forgot him in such a way. It was super sad.

If you do put her back there, make sure she has a bed that won't slide around and put something like your wallet and phone with her to help remember.

 

My relief is here early and shift is handed over. He told me I can bail, so I'm out!
