Thats why mine runs a shop rag as a filter. I also removed the ball.

YES remove the fiter first. I've had filters ruined letting people use my vac for water and they didn't know that

I wanna say there are 2 sizes. 2" and 3"? The vac we're talking about is the smaller size but plenty big enough to get er done. I know they do sell a heavy duty hose that I want to get for it. You can step on it without collapsing it, and it's orange. Oh yeah, the one and only problem I've had was the fitting at the end of the original hose began leaking air. It spins within the hose and after enough use, it gets a little sloppy, and costs suction at the business end. Duct tape FTW. simple fix til I get the orange hose. IIRC they are big money is why I didn't pull that trigger
edit: to answer your question, yes the older attachments work if they're the same size

Ahhh shit. Just saw they make a 4 gal. 6 hp version now...
Oh and apparently there are 3 sizes of hoses, but also an adapter kit to please them all. 1 1/4", 1 7/8", and 2 1/2"

Dude, mine lasted for almost 20 years and only died because I got pissed and body slammed it. It technically still runs, but I can tell the brushes were on their way out in the next year or two because it smelled like burning electronics (waft of brush arc) faintly while running. The motors are supposedly not serviceable in these things.

My random-orbit DA is similar. Ridgid tool. Any of their corded electronics are actually surprisingly good quality for a store brand. I think it's because it's owned by TTI, who also owns Milwaukee, Hoover, Homelite, Ryobi, Dirt Devil and Oreck.

That one apparently has an integrated blower, like the one @Mr.bee linked up: https://www.homedepot.com/p/205224112

EDIT: I really wouldn't want the extra bullshit for 1HP. It's just more crap that can break.

Yeah I've had mine for a minute too, and it has been heavily abused without slowin down a bit.
I remember like 20 years ago when Ridgid was strictly a plumbing tool company, and only found at plumbing supply houses. Over here anyways. Their pipe wrenches were always top notch.

Yeah okay. The initial thought of more power had me... well... excited. I've never needed more than the 5 it came with honestly. It's almost double the cost also

I mean, who wouldn't want a suck with their blow? Although technically the vacuum will do both either way.

    Is it friday yet?

That’s peak HP, not average. Go by CFM because you don’t know exactly how efficient the motor is anyway and if you did, you’d go by amperage (provided that’s not peak as well).

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but a breaker doesn’t trip instantaneously, it takes several seconds I assume which could sustain a peak amperage before the wires begin to burn.

    i doubt a 1hp vacuum could move 550lbs 1ft/sec

and using watts a 6hp vac would be 4.4kw @745/hp

    they're using nonsense numbers.

There’s gotta be some assumptions made we’re not seeing to explain any discrepancy. I myself would go by CFM providing it’s not sucking twice the power to get 10% better performance.

Looks strangely similar to mine, only mine's not sunbleached. The barb on the orange part, that holds the motor onto the tub snapped off on mine. I got the new one, with a muffler. $79, not bad. But now I've got all these extra hoses and attachments I can't use unless I get a reducer for the new one, the old tools are about 3/4" - 1" diameter difference to the new one, best I can eyeball it. I prefer how much less rigid the new hose is, although I'm sure I'll come to hate it soon enough.

Looking at it, you wouldn't think it was so old, or it's had the shit beaten out of it as much as it has. I've put this bastard thru the ringer.
