Getting mag mount antenna cable into cab?

I'm trying to figure out how to get a coax cable from a roof magnetic mount antenna into the cab without going across the door weather seal. That's rough on the weather seal and the coax cable after a while.

On a forum thread a long time ago, and I looked but couldn't find, there was a question from someone who found a mysterious vent in the rear cab wall. It was determined that was an air vent to let outside air in/out during door closures to prevent occupants ears from popping. Does anyone know either where said vent is and/or where that thread is?

Or....any other ideas on a path to route said coax cable.

Flat coax cables/adapters exist, if you can deal with some signal loss (10-15% from what I recall).

Hum, interesting point. These are two cellular antennas used for cellular router to get internet whilst roaming the Idaho/Oregon outback. Want minimum signal loss as you can imagine. But I'll check into that.

The cab vents you're referring to look like this on the 3rd Gen (Credit @Baldilocks for the inadvertent pic of them).

Could you run cabling through there? Sure. Would you be jamming a vent open and leaving the cab open to atmosphere all the time? Yes. Is that a big deal? All depends on where you live and how much humidity you have to deal with regularly.

There are some cab grommets that you could use. Several of hybrid owners have documented them for running power to the 12v battery under the seat. I'm not sure if your truck is a hybrid or not, but you might look at that.

Where are these vents? Are they on the rear wall behind the rear seats? That would be ideal. If I can get two cables through them, into the area between bed and cab, then up the back side of the cab (outside), I'd put a couple of stick on cable clamps. Probably put them on plastic parts next to rear window. That should do it...I'm thinking. Need to check more. Thanks again @KroppDuster

 

I think you missed his point of it potentially being a bad idea to run cable through the vent. You'd be better served using the cable grommets that are designed for this instead of propping the vent open.

If you're dead set, the vents should be between the cab and the bed.

 

They should be lower back wall of the cab behind the plastic trim of the underseat storage. I believe you have to remove the underseat storage to access it from the interior.

Def recommend using the grommets though. Easier to seal and keep the weather/moisture out.
