The Boy Scouts dropped off my mulch this last Saturday. I've got my work cut out for me.

Dam, that is a LOT of mulch...o_O :fistbump:

I just grabbed bags # 9-10 for the front to finish... Flori-mulch... local blend made with Melaleuca trees....helps keep the H2O police away :D:D

Good luck with that beautiful yard...

You might need a Cru Day to help finish it :fistbump: then again beer & helpers might make more work for you :anonymous:

We found a local place that sells mulch by the bobtail dump truck and it’s saved us thousands of dollars. Really good quality, like potting soil. There might be something like that in Texas

we found a local place that makes his most as well. I bring the trailer and he'll just dump it on. sometimes it comes out a little cheaper, but a lot of the time i was buying the bagged mulch on a good sale. but, it helps a local guy keep his business going, so i try to go that way when possible.

Bulk is the way to go. Every 2 years we have 10yards delivered. Spread about 7-8, then use the last 2 yards for touch-up the following year.

    Yup
We’re at about 18 yards every two years. Then distribute and spread it all with wheelbarrows

I’ve got a lot of hilly terrain. I’d love to get a small utility tractor - have looked at them off and on for years.
But it’s hard for me to justify $20-30k on something like that. A couple wheelbarrows, my wife and a couple friends, and we’ll have all 18CY distributed and spread in about 4 hours.

The kid was more expensive than the tractor. We are 20 years into a lifetime loan, so the payments are manageable.

I will upsize that tractor eventually. I've found the 700lb lift capacity on the front loader to be limiting more often than I like. The backhoe is a beast for its size.

My 73 year old mother uses it all summer long. It's the perfect size for her.

I’ve toyed with the idea of joining an online Amish forum so I can get them out here and do one of those community barn raises but I can’t seem to find any. o_O

I used to do that in our old town but this seems to be the Scouts biggest fundraiser so I don’t mind. The fact that they deliver is a bonus.

Thanks Canada, now I have a new addiction. We were at the base this weekend and the commissary had “Rito Old Fashioned Wintergreen Mints”. So I bought a few bags… Last night I ordered 2lbs of them from Amazon. Damn you Canada. Damn you.
