So, let’s say you meet someone…and that someone was great.

Then, you came across some money, and you started thinking…. is this someone the one? Yeah they are great but….

    Sure would be cool if…….

So ….would you stay with them?? Or :monocle:

    Just curious.

Clearly not talking about a person…calm down Karen/Daren.

I was/am contemplating possibly getting rid of the current vehicle. No, it's not the Tundra. That went away last May I think. I decided to get rid of that because it was a lease and when it had around 700'ish miles I had already staked up almost $9k in warranty work. Then my commute for work had doubled, fuel prices were sky high, and I was paying nearly as much for fuel a month as my payment would have been.

Anyway, every once in a while I start looking at vehicles that I may not need but have wanted for years/decades. Some may not be Toyota's or Tundra's so hence the nonsense from the original post, well that and some rum and cokes. I will say the new Sequoia could be on that list. I thought about keeping my daily and just getting/building a fun vehicle. But the prices of used cars are just freaking insane still. For example, I happen to like Mustangs. I have owned three so far. Two fox bodies and a 2000. Back in 2008 I almost bought an 04 Cobra for $30k. That same year is now going for $35-70k.

I think if I was going to do anything it would be to get something to build. Most likely either a Mustang or a K5 Blazer. Either of those would be something that I would want to hold onto for a while. Something I usually don't do with vehicles.

I have a favorites tab that is full of stuff for that. I was watching a couple of Terracrew videos a while ago too and just getting some ideas. Another Platinum(not my last one) and start on your truck's twin would be awesome! The only problem is I would most likely never use it for what it was built for.

My other problem is this damn Subie is unstoppable! While the entire city was shut down two weeks ago I had zero issues commuting all the way across town every day. The deep snow dual mode X thing was sweet. It kicks off traction control and I was drifting the backroads while I was the only one out there.

@reywcms as a side note I still have filters, oil, coolant, BD Squadron Pro's, hood bulge S40 mounts. So I guess I could start a build thread .

Wanna trade those squadron pros for my Diode Dynamics ss3 pros? My ocd doesn’t like the fact I’m running two different brands lol Or let me know if you want to sell them lol.

I'll have my full suspension for sale later this year... so if you do get back in a tundra that could work lol. The maggy is spoken for as I move to a bigger blower.

Wait....I thought the back half was good and that you were upgrading the front to the LSK kit.

Have you found anybody around here that can build that stuff, or are you just getting it done down by your pops place?

My living situation hopes its getting built down south....but my "live life on the dangerous side" hopes there is someone local that understands something other than overlanding.

I decided I want more so I’m planning on doing a full custom 4 link with fuel cell in the rear but still utilizing the bed space. lol I’ll have the work done in Phx. There’s a fab shop in Bend would have no problem doing what I have currently.

Bottom line - there is ALWAYS the law of diminishing returns in vehicles and newer isn’t always better.

So you say “hey - I came into 20k - I can upgrade” - dump the old 20k truck and buy a 40k - expecting it to be 2x better - sorry - it won’t be. If your lucky you get maybe 10-20% more enjoyment - but what else could you have added to your life for 20k ?!? Reality is your likely best served by what’s kept you happy until whatever shiny new thing caught your eye.

There are exceptions- if what you have doesn’t make you happy - then yes - it’s probably time for a change. But if it works and you just think you will be better off - you likely will just be in the same place if not worse off (and poorer too).

I’ve found this philosophy works for both vehicles and relationships.
