He tagged jack in his reply, pretty sure jack is fishing for confirmation or alternatives. Which is fine. My ps pump is fine, so i just skimmed that chunk of conversation.

Are you 100% certain there's no crawlspace access inside the house? I've seen them be pretty inconspicuous. If you have wood floors, check closets and other random spaces for cuts perpendicular to the boards; you might have to pry it out with a putty knife but there has to be access somewhere. Maybe? I mean you would think they didn't seal that sucker up like an Egyptian tomb as they were building it.

I just looked at it. Doesn’t fit my 2002 vehicle and it’s just a premium Napa part that “meets or exceeds OE performance”

Also, @bmf4069, here is the applicable law here in Texas to your situation. BUT: what you read in the Property Code may be modified in your lease except where the Property Code says you can't modify the statute in a lease. See section 92.006(c) for an example of where health and safety stuff can't be waived. So you'd need to read your lease to know for sure. Section 92.052 health and safety notice may be your best bet.

Looks like the part guide from Napa is wrong then although still it’s just a Napa part. Probably the best to go with if OE can’t be obtained.

Are you stating what’s written in a lease can override the law? Typically when people/entities do that in my state it invalidates the lease or whatever contract was written.

People can’t go around writing policies/contracts that violate the law otherwise landlords, schools and other businesses would get away with all kinds of crap.

When I was younger, I bought a car stereo from Fretter and brought it back a week later telling them it was defective. They told me I could only get a store credit even when I talked to a manger. Well in MA, you have the right to get your money back in 30 days for defective goods. I then got the name & number of the district manger and called him.

Got my money back and only HE was familiar with MA consumer law. A lot of BS to go through, but I knew my rights regardless of their blanket return policy.

People sign totally legally unenforceable crap all the time. Like, I saw one of the major investment firms makes some staff sign disclosures "you must give 6 months notice before leaving", which is completely and totally unenforceable by law. It's no more legal for them to force you to work for 6 months, while you lose your offer at another job, than it is to forbid you from seeking employment in the same sector, given you wouldn't breach a partnering NDA. People will throw all kinds of shit into contracts to scare the signee into submission - doesn't make it legal nor legally enforceable.

@bmf4069 you may just want to try bug-bombing the crawlspace. Skunks are more active at night, so hitting 'em at mid-day through some hole you can find is ideal.

My neighborhood is all up in arms about some dude sneaking a modular singlewide in, even though its against the rules. After i see where that goes, and decide to turn my property into a trailerpark, i'm gonna be the type of slumlord to have all kinds of silly shit in my contracts.

Can OEM power steering pumps even be found though? Another disappointing part for Toyota to discontinue but I can only recall 1-2 members here having theirs fail. It's impressive how long they have lasted.

Except for where the law says you can’t, correct. That section I cited above specifically tells you which landlord obligations can’t be waived. If the landlord tried, that clause is knocked out of the contract and, if you’ve got a good enough attorney, possibly the whole lease contract invalidated.
But hopefully there’s a hidden crawl space access hatch somewhere so bmf can trap that thing and drag it through his house in a cage. Bmf please make sure you’re recording that part since that’s a legal requirement* while taking a caged skunk through your house.

    * Law of funny stuff we need to see

Do you know who makes them for Toyota? I looked on the Aisin website and I didn’t seeing them selling PS pumps.

Don't forget to toss a bag over the trap, so the skunk sprays itself!

Yup, just mowed mine, and my neighbor's, he just had back surgery and can't manage on his own yet.

Curious to see what the coming weeks bring. I remember a few years back, maybe 12-14, we had that freak ice storm in like April/May after we'd been having quite nice weather. Shit happens.

That just makes things more confusing if the law can’t be enforced for certain things. I’m guessing those items probably apply when there is no lease (i.e tenant at will -aka month to month) or any mention of the item that can be overridden.

My oven gas leak saga continues. I already replaced the igniter, now I've decided I gotta replace the gas valve inside the oven. Bought a replacement (part numbers match online), waited a week for it to arrive. The new one looks like the one I'm replacing, except it doesn't have this bracket (outlined in orange) or this hex-shaped "nut thing"... I think it's a nut. I cannot budge it to reuse it... little tabs appear to have been pushed into the threads of that outlet, I think by design to keep it from backing off.

    1. Anyone know what this bracket and "nut" thing are called?

    2. Any other guidance? I do know to get gas sealant to put on the new threads on the inlet side.

Here's the go-by video I found that most closely matches my project:https://youtu.be/U3bDtcp2IAM

Except, this go by is a better match for what my oven looks like... all component located inside the over space, not behind as shown in the video.

    2. Can you fit the new one to the old bracket? Can you make washers from bean cans to 'shoot the gap'?

I cannot because I can't get the old bracket and that nut think off. So even if I eyeball the bracket and drill holes the correct distance apart, I'll need a new fastener.

I woundnt have a clue how to search for something like that, but i'd make one out of beer cans before i made it out of bean cans.

First, my hair is almost as hideous as that guy in the video!
So that bracket is what holds the orifice into a certain position, not sure if homies will have anything like that to help you. And not sure if I have any ideas…… yet

Hey Pal, it’s a nut….I’ve removed a few in my years and my best luck was with channel locks, somewhat wiggle(not your hips) as you grasp with channel locks. They’re designed to not come off easily
