That caster split can be improved by the looks of it. That split will likely pull

 

I don't know enough about alignment systems to know if this is the case or not, but the GUI shows your tire is a 265/70r16. Is it possible that's skewing the output?

 

Diff gonna get did. Had to hit the dealership for full syn oil change on the 2020 Highlander, picked up crush washers, grabbed my 80w90 on the way home.

Did they not test drive it after the first attempt and just call it good?!

 

The stock wheel size is used to get the factory numbers.

 

I don’t know of any alignment shops around that drive it afterwards around here.

 

He actually told me "it drives nice". Not sure if he just didn't notice the pull or what. It's not horrible but it's enough to notice.

Hulk is experiencing day 2 of major preventative surgery: timing belt and water pump. Also swapping the serpentine belt and they'll do an oil change so I don't have to go back for a while. F'ing fortune. I shoulda bought the parts myself. It'll make me feel less anxious though, knowing a date/mileage changed as a certainty, not the approximation I've been running on.

tl;dr version -

For front/rear diff and tc I'm out ~$165 in fluids and additives. I'm expecting ~$70 reimbursement from Mobil1. So $95 to refresh both diffs and tc, I guess?​

novella version -

Spent ~$110 on 75w140 & 75w90 of the Mobil1 LS for the rear/front diffs and tc. All OK except in rear, got chatter. Complained to Mobil1, they say they'll fully reimburse me (4qts for rear) and recommended trying additive to avoid a full cut-bait on newly installed fluid.

Spent ~$12 on 7oz bottle CRC Trans-X additive. ~5oz got me to minimal chatter, but any chatter is pissing me off when I had virtually zero prior and it's pissing me off I'm adding additive to fluid that's already got LSD additives. So, w/SpeedPerks discount + 15% RetailMeNot coupon (code: rmn15) @ Advance Auto I'm out $39 more on Lucas 80w90.

Since I'm keeping the full syn in the front diff and tc, I'm technically only out of pocket, what, $20, maybe $30 on this, total what I would've been, plus my time? Small price to pay to learn a lesson I should've avoided by heeding warnings here & elsewhere. When I saw a couple folks saying, "Worked fine for me, no chatter!" I assumed I may get lucky sticking with my preferred brand.

I'm pretty stubborn about my fluids. Valvoline for grease and trans fluid. Mobil1 for crankcase and gear oil. Permatex for assembly lube and anti-seize. Superlube for plastic gears, poly bushings and similar rubbers. I think Royal Purple is overpriced silliness, though I used to use it often for GenIII SBC swaps. I like Lucas/Amsoil, but the others I just mentioned are my go-to.

Lesson learned: Only use dino oil in 1st Gen Tundra/Sequoia if it has LSD.

Sounds like nobody adjusts for road crown like the do here. That and making sure their crappy alignment doesn’t pull too bad.

I can't recall the last time I spent more than $2000 on wheels and tires.

i threw a fit about $176 tires. Glad my tundra is 16's. And i hate discounts website now. Even if i shop by size they wanna know what its for, and xe's came with 17"steelies, and they know it.

Everyone has that specific color and size at $418. Which is why I'm suspecting Method Racing forces vendors to charge their desired MSRP. Other companies do the same and will penalize you if they find you doing otherwise, even going so far as ensuring you're not able to sell their product if caught selling below their MSRP.

EDIT: Confirmed, Method Racing has a MAP (minimum advertised price) policy in place. Guess I'm hunting for another vendor/wheel. Lame!

I may poke around at 16s and see if things are better. Ideally I'd prefer to be at $275/ea or lower per wheel. Shit part is I can't even find anyone that sells these who has a viable coupon that could at least get me closer to my target. 4WP included.

We had it here too. For us, I'm pretty sure it's because we're on a frontal border. Usually when warm and cold fronts collide, the area around collision is high wind/rain.

 

Might be better to have a tent with with roll up sides to create a canopy along with a ridge vent to help prevent the roof from blowing apart. You’d also need to secure the frame more permanently though or weigh it down somehow if it’s not secure enough. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen anything like that sold though. Hmmn.

 

Now I’m thinking hydrophobic acoustic mesh might be an idea for a tent. Allows air to pass through it but blocks water and moisture. I wonder if anyone has done it or something similar?

It was real bad here too. Trees down everywhere power out for about 6 or so hours. Had to help move a tree off our street so I could get to work tonight. Got to cycle 4low though so not too bad. Been meaning to do that for a while. Went right in.

donuts have always worked. I'd blame the tech before i'd blame the donuts. I mean as long as they werent krispy kreme.

 

Worse. It was the owner that did the alignment and test drive. Maybe he's diabetic and was pissed I brought donuts.

 

I dont drink monsters, but i thought the monster was a good idea, pretty much everyone my age is addicted to those things.

Hmmn, I'd better check. Not having done it myself (skeeered), I didn't ask. But I will, now you've mentioned it.

 

Trying to think of a good reason not to throw these away. Can't imagine a scenario where I would put them back on or rebuild them. The bushings are expensive.

Recycle them?

 

I listed my old ones on here and after a few months I got $50 from somebody that wanted to rebuild them. YMMV
