So I have been apprehensive about hooking up to and pulling my 16ft trailer. I hooked it up and drug it around a bit and backed up with no issues such as the truck jamming brakes on me. A beeping sound but other than that no problems. Am I overlooking something?

The truck has backup sensors of sorts. It sees the trailer and thinks it’s an object so it applies the brakes. It’s been talked about here already. I believe you also can’t back up with your door open. Whoever thinks of some of the features need to hit over the head to regain common sense.

Right, I am with ya, I read and heard the same thing. But mine didn't have any issues such as those....which causes me to wonder.

If you pressed the button with the picture of the cone on it, in the vicinity of the break controller. Top right button, then you wouldn't have any issues. Truck would suddenly break for me while in reverse for no apparent reason until I realized I had to press that button.

careful doing it cuz it will put the truck into park while you are moving if you are going slow enough and give you a black eye when you bounce your face off the door jamb...

I don't know if your 2019 has this annoying feature or not. I'd sure hope not as it's a PITA

I don't think it does. I'm almost sure I've done it when hitching up the trailer, but probably only a foot or two.

It's not a feature on ours. If it is available, it's on the 3rd gen. I know my friends Ram has this. PITA.

And THAT'S why the world is so overpopulated... we keep interfering with natural selection.

i dont joke on others ppls deaths, but you do you

i do recall the jumping out of the jeep was kind of a weird scenario, like he couldnt see correctly, someone like told him to get out etc.... not anything like it was his first time backing/hooking into at trailer.

If your trailer utilizes trailer brakes and the 7-pin, the nanny's are automatically disabled. I can confirm this is the case with the 7-pin as every time I hook up to my trailer they are disabled once it senses the trailer. From what I've heard, this is not the case for the flat, 4 pin hook up. Easy enough though, just turn the back up and cross traffic alert nanny's off by pressing that button to the left of your steering wheel. You'll see a yellow indicator light pop up on the dash to confirm it has been disabled.

Doesn’t tow/haul mode turn all of that off? I have only hooked my camp trailer up once as a test, but had none of that happen but I believe I had already selected tow mode. I will need to pay better attention next time.

Right, I hear ya, but I hooked up and backed up without depressing the button you mention and had no issues. The other thing that is strange is that I had a message pop up to press OK to temporarily silence....something, not sure what. Maybe the seatbelt audible as I did not have my seat belt clipped and I backed up about 300ft and the seatbelt chime never once sounded.
