I’ve had and used both. There are tools in both lineups that I prefer for certain tasks or that I feel are better designed. Much of my yellow gear has been going strong for over 20 years and built two houses and countless outbuildings for myself and friends/family. I work in industrial construction and see just as much of both colors used and abused on the job sites. Both of them fail, both have bad lots of manufacturing, both make good products.

I'm tired of buying disposable everything.... tools, washers, dryers, etc... It all has a bunch of electronics that crap out 3-5 years max, and if it's not the electronics, the guts of whatever it is are just made w/junk that falls apart

.... This explains why Amazon kept giving me a Flexzilla hose recommendation at the bottom of the page for the last few months...

I don't think I will ever go for ham license, but have been looking at radios for a while to use as a scanner more than anything.

I keep circling back to the Yaesu VX-6R due to all the channels you can listen on.

Edit: to stay with the thread theme...my last purchase was a Burger King Texas double Whopper with cheese...meal.

My AirPods took a dump so giving this Technics a try, read some good reviews on them. So far the sound is amazing and the app definitely helps with fine tuning and controllability..

I'm also on the fence of becoming a tech, and did pick up a VX-6R from HRO + the MARS/CAP mod. We have a fairly large GMRS group here, and several repeaters. I've acquired a list of the 2m repeaters used in our area as well and often scan through them. When you find out when the groups hold their nets, you can just listen, or participate if you hold the appropriate license. It's surprising how many people are using VHF and UHF these days.

I also recommend getting the programming cable and software from RT Systems at the same time or later, but HRO and Gigaparts have it cheaper then direct from RT Systems. It's a nice little radio, and my Baofengs sit in my "tackle" box now.

Nope. I have several Baofengs that I program with CHIRP, an ICOM IC-F4021T that I can't program right now, and the Yaesu. I also have two different mobiles, Midland MXT-575 in my truck and BTECH GMRS-20V2 in my CanAm Maverick.

Some complain about the buttons being so small on the VX-6R, but I don't use them for manual entry, hence the software I purchased. I generally only use the power and scan buttons. I have all the frequencies I need in memory channels and can easily spin the knob on top to the one I want when not scanning. I only have the high power GMRS 15 though 22 and the 8 repeater frequencies, and 10 2m frequencies, one 1.25m frequency, and one 70cm frequency programmed into memory channels. Scanning through them all literally takes seconds.

Parts to reconfigure my USB power setup again.
Working on a way to set up a MagSafe charger by the useless front “cup” holder and so I’m looking at reverting back to the factory USB port configuration and just stashing my CarLinkIt wireless CarPlay unit under the console area.

Just got this flashlight I purchased from Ebay in the mail today. The seller is from Canada and I’ve heard many good things about Canada's Kits Kats on this forum. I asked if they wouldn’t mind sending one with the flashlight. Never heard back from them but to my surprise they did! :D 20230303_141927.jpg

Got it from Amazon since its not much of a hassle to return it if anythings wrong with it. Was about 162 after tax.
    https://www.amazon.com/MICTUNING-Silicone-Multifunction-Auxiliary-Momentary/dp/B0BQLX95PY

It's also on ebay for about 15 bucks less, comes up under RGB 12 Gang Switch Panel.

In case some people don’t know it’s not just Kit Kats. It’s most Canadian candy. They use Cadbury chocolate instead of hersheys. Way smoother and way better.

I've also heard there are less additives and preservatives, which give it a cleaner smoother flavor. Kind of like Coke in Mexico is made w/pure cane sugar instead of corn syrup..
