Does it work best to put the MP3 files in one folder or in several folders?

I've always dumped them all in the drive without even using folders

I keep mine in folders on my local network, for organization purposes. Then I use that to keep my USB drive up to date.

The stock system in my 2015 ignores folders and relies on the album MP3 tag, which I don't use for anything. So I have to update them, which is easier when things are in folders.

I put over 1000 songs on my flash drive after formatting it. Put them all on the drive without folders.
Went to try tunes in truck and it showed me that I was playing a song out of 499. ( not out of 1000)
Going to format drive again and put songs into folders this time to see if that works on my truck.
I guess all of the head units are different.

It worked! Just had to put the songs in folders and now the truck can see them all. Thanks.
