Hey man…enjoy the info you put out. Quick question?

What is it about the TRD Pro components that enables the sway bar to fit inside the TRD skid plate?

Is is just due to the Fox suspension not having the same lift as the TRD lift kit so no sway relocation or is the TRD Pro sway curved/angled differently?

What’s up everyone. I decided on my lift kit but was wondering what else would be needed/required to complete the lift. I was back and forth between a King and Dobinson’s lift and ultimately decided to go with Dob’s IMS Lift. Here is what I have ordered:

    IMS Lift Kit
    Teal Springs
    Front- C59-838 (3”)
    Rear- C59-841V (2”)
    Rear shocks- IMS59-60687 (Non-long travel)

I purchased the following as well:

    Duro bump front bumps
    Timbren rear bumps
    Icon sway bar drop
    Icon UCA’s

With the 3/2 lift what additional parts would be needed to complete the lift if any?

Extended brake lines, ABS brake line brackets, etc?

I also have the option to go to a 2.5”/1” springs (2” springs and adjust the seats to add the extra 1/2” lift per Dob’s recommendation).

I plan on running 35x12.5 R17 tires with +18 offset.

Can you please tell me how much poke you have on your wheels and part number for wheels? I think your truck looks simply amazing.

    @R2theD2

I've been stalking the thread the past few days as I'm getting ready to drop my truck off this week at Rodland for the TRD lift. I also have a 1794 TRD package but in the short bed. The quote I have looks similar for the install and they're going to price match on the parts.

Is there a specific tech I should request or ask to speak to seeing that they've done your truck and I'm looking to keep my fog lamps and TRD skid plate as well?

I've only had my truck since late December (purchased out of state due to pricing), but have ordered some parts from them and Luke has been very helpful, and he had mentioned that they needed to go to Marysville to work on the coils for one of the first TRD lifts, which after reading this, I'm assuming was for your install. Anyways, your truck looks sharp, and I'm hoping mine comes out just as nice! I'm out in Mill Creek, so Rodland is convenient, but I've been also working with the Marysville parts team on some items for the chrome delete, and they've actually been very helpful as well, but the kit/install is sky high.

@YotaFJ what are they quoting you for the install? I have the kit coming in fedex, but not sure I’m going to do it. I called Michael’s in Bellevue and they quoted $3k for the install :eek2:

I may just sell the kit I bought…still deciding.

$3K? Geez that's nuts. 88 rotors here in southern california charges less than a third of that, well that was for my icon stage 7 kit. Took approximately 3 hours to do. Can't imagine they would charge that much more to do the trd kit.

yeah I called and asked how much for the kit and install. $7k together, made up of $4k for the kit and $3k for the install. I asked if they would price match and they said no, but they would install the kit if I procured it separately (for $3k).

But not surprising, they are also marking up all their sales by a ridiculous amount.

I guess Rodlands prices went up as they quoted me $2200 back on November and that was also what they quoted/honored for @R2theD2

I had my Wescott’s done at Michael’s…they do a lot of mods/accessories there and do quality work but the price isn’t cheap.

As mentioned I got a $2200 quote from Rodland myself back in November but
Things may have changed there (and I did buy my truck there also…folks there have always been helpful so I will recheck on the “current pricing”).

Honestly though, I am taking a pause and see if another alternative doesn’t suit my needs. A gentleman on here is currently sourcing Dobsons so looking at that closely as I like some of the ability to customize (I would prefer full spring out back if I can…some extra weight for bumper, etc that I am looking at might be nice).

The last issue that’s giving me pause is I originally thought a 3 year warranty was what the kit came with but only since found out that you only get that if the kit’s bought with the truck otherwise it’s just 1. That was part of the appeal to me.

So…to each his own and I do understand the appeal of 1 stop shopping (I may end up right back here who knows) but not sure I want to pay $3K+ for this install if that’s what the price turns out to be.

Freeman Toyota in Santa Rosa quoted $4,364 for labor and $3,600 for kit just couple days ago, not including tax. I have been going there for maintenance for awhile and am thinking I should probably start looking somewhere else.

At that labor price I think you definitely should…though you are in California so your cheaper options might be limited.

Rodland quoted me $2,200 for the install and are price matching some local dealers at $2,500 on the kit, so ~$4,700 total. They’re 15 minutes from where I live so that’s very convenient, and so far have been decent. I called a few dealers in the area that blew me off or never returned my call and Marysville quoted me $3,300 for the install and full pop on the parts.

Rodland quoted me the same $2,200 last Friday. I’m scheduled to go drop the truck off today.

I also get the 3 vs 1 year warranty, which is a bummer seeing how that just hasn’t been very feasible given the supply and lack of experience for techs doing the installs.

this is where I’m at. I’ve ordered the kit and it gets delivered this week, but I figure I shouldn’t have too hard a time selling it if I decide to go a different direction.

I jumped the gun a bit on the purchase. I’m not sure I want this tall of a lift and have a hard time shelling out this much cash for install if I’m not completely sure it’s what I want.

The warranty thing kind of sucks too. A big reason I wanted this kit initially was the OEM factor and related warranty.

I feel you…i have the kit in my garage and can’t find a decent install price. Hell some dealers won’t even attempt to install it. Might have to sell it, which sucks.

Good luck - Thomas at Rodland was the service manager for my lift kit installation. They did a good job, but it took FOREVER...so stay on top of him ;)

Your quote was the same as mine, but they wouldn't price match the lift kit, so I bought that at Foothills Toyota for $2500 and then had Rodland install it for $2200.

Thomas (or Thom) was nice to work with, but it did take a long time for them to complete it. I had back surgery right when I was getting the lift, and Thom actually brought my old tires back to my house in Edmonds for me - pretty cool guy. I just told them to keep the fog lights and they mentioned me signing a waiver, but I never signed one. They also did the skid plate correctly per my instructions.

The lift is great though - IMO it is the perfect size and rides better than stock. I don't even notice the beefy tires. Completely changed the look of the truck.

Let me know what you do and sorry I didn't respond sooner.

Mine came back from lift install with the automatic front air dam removed, is this standard procedure?

Yes, it's one of the first steps in the instructions for the installation.

Had my TRD lift kit installed w/o using the sway bar spacers, so sway bar could fit under the TRD skidplate. I’m adding the spacers on Friday and will either lower the trd skidplate or attach the sway bar outside the skid. Will share pics.

Just wondering did you not like the lift w/o the spacers or why are you adding the spacers after the fact?

@Taikowaza I'm interested in hearing and seeing how this goes. I gave them the instructions you provided on not using the sway bar spacer to keep the skid but not sure they will follow them. If not, I ordered the bolts and spacers to drop the skid below the sway bar (Thanks @KroppDuster !).

I appreciate the feedback! I'm working with Brandon and dropped off the truck on Monday for my scheduled appointment. I gave them the same instructions regarding the lift and fog lights (thanks to you and others in the forum) and mentioned that I know they had done the same exact install and request on another Gen3 recently.

I got a call yesterday confirming everything, and reiterated my instructions with them, and they stated it should be done Friday, but I didn't see any activity on the app until yesterday evening and don't have high hopes it will be finished this week. Oh well, as long as it's done correctly!

How do you like your tire setup? I really dig the 20" TRD wheels, and contemplating going the 285/65/20 route or 35s, but not quite sure. The other option is going for some 18" methods (+18 offset ) and seeing how big I can go without major cutting/too much poke. I love the truck and really looking forward to getting the lift and tires done soon.

After the lift/tires are done, the last big thing will be the grille swap, but I'm not sure if I want to tackle that myself.

Please keep updated. I have the lift sitting here and trying to decide what to do. I'm not sure I want to do it and part of it is the install price/effort (the other part being I might not want to go this tall). But a review of how it worked with the installers and some pics would be very helpful.

On that note, any folks in the Seattle area ever meet up or anything? I would love to see some of these lifts installed in person...

For sure! My wife and I do a lot of roadtrips/camping/fly fishing so I wanted to get a suspension lift for some of the areas we typically frequent, but this is the first time having a truck and getting anything lifted, so I wanted to go the Toyota path due to the equipment/warranty. I know there are cheaper and more expensive options, but I'm hoping this fits the bill.

Last week I was picking up some stuff from Marysville and saw a lifted gen3 in the service department (first I've seen in person), and it looked sick! It was definitely at least a 3" lift, not sure if it was the TRD. A lift/leveling kit and better tires changes the truck for the better, imo.

That is great. I think Brandon is the one that actually did the work on my truck if I remember correctly. I wanted to keep the TRD wheels and just copied the SEMA truck when they showed off the lift kit originally, so did the same 35x12.5 Nitto Ridge Grapplers - I wouldn't change a thing. Basically no poke. Only very slight rub on front mud flap, but plan to pin it back a bit (not a big deal).

IMO it drives better and feels more like a truck now.

@YotaFJ are you going to have Rodland do the grill swap? Are you or did you already do the mustache?
