    Hey,

Just added an 05 Limited 4x4 DoubleCab to my garage. I already have an 05 Sequoia 4x4 and since they are almost the same in every way I was assuming the Tundra had Traction Control like my Sequoia does, but I don’t see anywhere in the truck to turn it off? So do the Tundra’s not have it, or is it always on?

Nope. No TC in the tundra. Well, a few 06s had "TC", but it was called VSC and worked through the brakes. Unless you consider an LSD TC, then it was an option throughout the years.

And you don't want that VSC anyway. At least I don't lol

Yep, I wouldn't want the VSC that came in these trucks.

No comment, just wanted to say smart and super cool to have two kind of "redundant" vehicles.

Ha, yep! I have an 11 Rav4 too for my long commuter, lol. If it doesn’t have a Toyota logo it doesn’t go in my garage!

Yeah I actually don’t and why I was asking, we get a lot of snow and the TCS in the Seq is nice when driving but if you’re in deep powder and need to spin to get out it sucks and will actually get you stuck if you don’t turn it off! So my fear was that the Tundra had it with no option to shut it off! So knowing this now, does my Tundra’s 4x4 system work differently than the Seq. I’ve learned that the Seq when in 4H works like an auto 4x4 with a free diff and kicks in when needed. Because of this you can essentially leave it in 4H all the time without damaging anything. Is the Tundra the same or does it work more like an older truck with locking hubs where you need to be careful when using 4x4 because it’s a true 4x4?

You don't want to engage 4wd in the Tundra anytime you're on dry pavement unlike the Sequoia. (unless you plan on only driving it straight ahead)

Okay, exactly what I wanted to know, so treat it like a true 4x4 then, thanks!!

But you do have to engage it for at least 10 miles once a month. Either a nice straight road or in some dirt/gravel.

Exactly but there is nothing wrong with using 4HI as one normally uses 2wd. Even our 1st Gen owners manuals(OM) explains 4x4 use. Since you have an 05, I chose an 05 but any 1st Gen Tundra's OM states same.

Yeah so just common sense and no hard turns when grabbing traction.
