I noticed the side button still opens tailgate when car is locked. Do I need to lock it with key?

Also if I put a bed cover on does it stop the rear view mirror camera from operating?

If your remote is with you then the tailgate side button will work. To check place your keys 20ft away or inside your house after locking the truck.

Bed cover won’t prevent your rear view camera from operation.
The bed cam however will point directly on your cover

That camera is in the 3rd brakelight assembly. If by bed cover you mean a tonneau then no, rear view will work just fine. A shell, or canopy will block it.

Thanks that makes sense that it would show cover. So everything else it shows is visible? Geez being a newbie is interested.

Left side of tailgate, it's an alternate way to open the tailgate.

On the driver side on the tail light, there is a button that opens up your tailgate.

    Thanks much appreciated.
BTW the new truck has 110 miles on it. I have been using it mostly in town so far. It’s showing 9MPG any recommendations on what I should do to get the gas mileage up? Do I need to go on a highway ride? I am hoping for 17 average as I had with my Ford. Any suggestions?

It'll go up with time and once you get out of the city. My first week I was in the single digits but now I'm around 17.

The camera will operate, but depending on what cover you go with, you may not see anything. I tried an Exceed Extang and it blocked the entire thing, could only see black.

lol you are lucky, on our first tank and we are getting about 5.6 mpg

but then again lot of remote starts (did i mention the wife loves the heated steering wheel) and short trips. nothing new that the old 2018 tundra didnt see also.

here is our lifetime mpg stats on the 2018

I've got around 5K on the truck now and I'm getting 19MPG on some commute days, seems to be increasing but I'm not expecting much better than that; we'll see. When I tow it's around 13.5 MPG

a-car, now owned by fuelly. the app hasnt been updated in years (not like it really needs anything more) but overall it does alot very good plus it auto uploads to fuelly and you can export now for free.
