Want to install passenger airbag switch in 06 AC

I looked through the forums and the interwebs to no avail. I am curious if anyone has installed the 00-05 passenger airbag switch into the 06? I know the climate control face for the 00-05 is different than the 06 in that the cargo lamp is opposite and there is just a keyhole under the passenger air bag on/off display on the passenger side.

I take my dog offroading with me sometimes and want to buckle him in the front seat using a harness and the seat belt. My concern is that with him buckled in, and him being a 90lb AmStaff, he arms the airbag system.

I know the 06 was the only year that toyota did away with this disabling feature since it was too costly to do a child seat hook fix. So, has anyone done this conversion? Any advice? Haven't torn anything apart yet to check for wiring and wanted to do some research first.

    Thanks in advance!

There's a hell of a lot more to the system than just that locking switch, so - and this is just my opinion - I think you're maybe opening a can of worms.

There was one guy on here (@florida Stepside owner) who was looking to bypass the weight/pressure sensor inside the seat that tells the SRS whether an occupant of proper weight is sitting in the seat. He was talking about using an inline resistor to jumper the connection under the seat to mimic nothing being in the seat.

The big thing is, any time you're unhooking shit with SRS, you want to make sure the negative terminal on the battery has been disconnected for at least 5-10 minutes before you unplug things for safety and dummy light reasons.

Some threads which may be of interest - be sure to read the 1st one from start to finish!

@shifty` that first post could be a short suspense novel with an open ending lol.

I don't like messing with SRS stuff simply because it can be costly (financially and bodily). Was hoping it'd be something simple, like adding in the key switch, and I wouldn't have too do to much. Don't want to pull the airbags completely out since it's still a road driven truck but I also don't want to hurt my pup.

    Thanks for the links!

Fellow pup owner here, but only ~60lb. I totally get it. She rides in the back seat of my '06 for exactly that reason.

I could be totally wrong on adding the key switch. Only way you'd know for sure would be pulling the EWD for an earlier model (pre-03?) and backtracing the EWD. Links to EWDs are available in the 'So you wanna buy a tundra' sticky thread if you want to dig. At least then you can see what modules are involved.

I'm wondering also if there's a way to disable the airbag using Techstream?
