Just rolled 100k any reason to do the water pump?
No leaks no issues. But am doing the idler pulley, tensioner pulley, and serpentine belt.
Kind of figure since I am in there.

If I should do it any reason not to get the Aisin from Rock Auto for $80 compared to Toyota for about $125.
The videos I have watched show Aisin logo right on the front of the Toyota part.

If you’re already in there and you feel ambitious to do it, why not? It’s either that or wait for when/if it fails and get in there again to do it.
Can’t comment on which one to buy though.

Generally, I replace that and the radiator at 200K on all my vehicles as preventive maintenance. But the hoses and thermostat at 150K when I do the second coolant flush. Yes, Aisin is what I go with on my Toyota/Lexus vehicles. Aisin is the oem supplier of water pump and thermostat. Denso for radiator, although I usually go with CST or TYC.

I would not replace based upon mileage, all in for routine maintenance, just not a water pump based upon mileage

Money and the pump is possibly not as well built as it was a few years ago, even though it's OEM.

Key word is possibly. How do you know if it's not as well built or even better built? If it's the same supplier that sends them to the factory, no one can say either way.

Here’s the bigger question. Is everything else being done out of preventative maintenance or is it all needing replaced? If just all a PM then the whole water pump argument can be applied elsewhere right?

I replaced the one in my Tacoma at 140K, and I hear that 140K-145K is when they tend to fail, but maybe Tundras are different?

Serpentine belt needs to be changed at 100k and the idler has a squeak when humid.
Rock Auto had the Dayco kit that included both pulleys and belt for $65 on closeout and since Dayco makes the factory OEM stuff figured I would throw it all on there.

As for the water pump it’s a lot more involved and expensive so was not sure if I should do it or not.
Looks like it is a pretty solid unit from the factory and not a plastic impeller so should not really need to do it.

I don’t have water pump knowledge on the tundra but if it’s pretty involved and expensive but robust, then you can skip it and be fine

One of the Sequoias that my wife had lost a water pump under the original bumper to bumper warranty, so less than 36k miles. The service writer made her pay $200 for a new serpentine belt because he said the original belt had gotten some coolant on it and he felt is was unsafe for her to haul our kids around in. Needless to say we got away from those crooks for any future services.

Mine started weeping at about 65K. I found it during routine oil change. I'd change it if you are in there. It's not that big of a deal. One long afternoon in the garage. Use OEM part only, and use new belt.

In years gone by I would have changed it, but I have personally seen quite a few failures with replacement parts in general. 3 alternators on a Jeep to get one good one, 2 Honda starters, one Chevy 2500HD radiator failed a couple of days ago after a week of service. All in the past few months. So if you are confident the unit you are buying is good quality and not a rebuild then go for it. In general I avoid rockauto due to many failures and messed up orders. I just bought some suspension parts from them though, cause I cannot get moog locally.

Most aftermarket parts in the last few years have been complete garbage. Even OEM has taken a big quality hit the last few years.
