Phone Operation question & Screen Layout

How do I see my messages on screen? Does it have to be in android auto mode? Also is there a way to have map on passenger side while listening to music? In other words can the screen layout be changed ?

So much to learn on this infotainment system geez

 

In latest download from Android Auto you can have your messages read to you and see that you have a missed call. Also by hitting your music app on screen it will swap sides. But, you have to be logged in to AA.

I used to hate Android Auto, but the newest version "cool walk" is awesome and does just about everything you asked about. It came just as my Toyota subscription expired. It certainly made giving Toyota the finger easy and enjoyable.

 

on samsung you have to turn on preview msg for notifications to show up on AA in app settings (not the msg app)

in case you dont want to use google msg app (wife uses samsung msg app and i use chomp)
