Wow! Looks great. I’ve always had the understanding that Snugtop is the best in the industry.

Could you perhaps post more pictures of all three sides? I would love to get more info before I bite the bullet.

How much did the cap cost? What was the added premium for the leer locker?

    Thanks so much!

Snugtop Rebel $3,000; each windoor $195 and the Leer Locker $950, plus taxes, pricey!

Ran into Portland this afternoon and had the A.R.E. V I ordered exactly 5 weeks ago installed. Overall I'm happy with it. It's color match is close enough for me. It was just under $3000. With options: Front window tip down and slider, pet screens on side slider windows, Headliner, 2 LED strips with prop switch, and Yakima tracks on top. Now to custom build my bed deck and drawers, and slide out bed on top of that.

Sorry if this has been answered, and I have a 2nd Gen, but I have the Fas-Top Traveler package and a decked system and there is enough room for the softopper to open and stow.

Kinda hard to tell from the pics but those appear to be the stock 18” TRD OR wheels. Did you black out the silver portion somehow, or did you have them powder coated? Looking to get rid of the two-tone myself.

My buddy has one. Couldn’t get it to stop leaking at the front panel after multiple repairs. He’s now on his second one (full warranty replacement) and it started leaking at the same place on his drive home from Montana. It sure does look cool though.

I was hot to trot to get a GFC canopy camper but while researching ran into a number of reports of leaking - in the tent (even when closed) and in the canopy to the bed. And insufficient customer service to rectify the problems. This research included some persuasive customer YouTube videos. Since I live on the east coast, where thunderstorms are common, at this time I personally am not inclined to risk a GFC. Maybe if they had a dealer within an hour or two. But I'm unaware of any dealers other than the ones recently created in California. Was very disappointed because I sure like the idea of the GFC and how it is presented on their website. I'm in this thread to learn more about other options. Hoping to find an option with dealers in my area.

I had not heard of that one and will check it out - thanks! If you don't mind losing your tailgate, and the hit to payload (and wallet), the U.S. distributor of Alu-Cab canopy campers is in New Jersey, about an hour west of NYC. I went to that shop a couple years ago - a worthwhile visit if nearby. I'm now interested in just a canopy from AluCab but am not seeing that they have those for Tundras. They do appear to have the canopy camper for Tundras. https://ok4wd.com/alu-cab-alu-cabin-for-2007-toyota-tundra/

I did a ton of research before I bought my Wedge camper and all my research pointed to Super Pacific as the one to get. Better tent material, venting to prevent condensation issues, better overall design, and just lots of little improvements over the GFC that make the slightly increased cost more than worth it. Every single GFC owner I spoke to told me they wish they had bought a Super Pacific instead. Very happy with it so far

SuperPacific is $14k almost. GFC is $8k. What’s on the SP that makes it $6k more? Do they ship or do you have to drive to Portland? Thanks.

For those prices, I'd be considering Alu-Cab as well.

My previous truck was a Ram 2500 with 18" wheels, so that is what size Snow tire I had. I was tired of going through the fall/spring tire wheel shuffle and didn't want to buy 20" snow tires. So, I started a search for 18" rims for the snow tires. Someone had suggested eBay, and that is where I found these. The listing said they were 18" Toyota Tundra TRD OEM wheels. I'm thinking they may have been powder coated by the seller. They look and work good so that's what matters, plus they were just under $1K.

My SP for 3G Tundra was $13,500 including all options GFC charges extra for as standard

When I ordered mine, the GFC for 3G Tundra was $10,500 including all the same options. They've dropped the price a bit now by decreasing the price of the added side doors and F/R windows so it's around $9,500 now when fully outfitted.

I also didn't mention how much more comfortable the bed is in the SP. I'm not sure if you could fit an Exped in a GFC, but if you could, that adds another $400 or so.

Single handle entry was also a must have for me. I am very often holding something in one hand when popping the camper open and having a single handle makes life so much easier. I've owned fiberglass canopies with both and will never go back to double handles.

If I'm spending $10k+ on a camper, another $3k is worth the numerous quality of life upgrades.

If you're doing any electrical wiring the SP wins by a long shot again.

The SP tent has small bungee cords inside thay are designed to pull the sides if the tent into the shell when you lower the top. This makes breaking the tent down SO easy and is yet another design improvement over the GFC.

The Alucab is cool, but I'm not a fan of losing my tailgate. Not only do I use it as a bench, workspace, and table, it also houses the puddle light, backup camera, and hitch camera, all of which would either be lost or require custom fab to relocate.

In terms of delivery, SP just announced a satellite network of dealers in SoCal, NorCal, and CO so you no longer have to drive all the way to Portland.

Has anyone tried or seen the RSI SmartCap EVOa? I don't think they've released them for the 2022+ but thought maybe someone may have dealt with previous versions. Look similar to the Alu-Cab toppers. A little more industrial/adventure look and functionality.

Just looking at the build quality between the gfc and the super pacific. Both of which I constantly debate getting, but just cant seem to justify hauling around the rtt at all times... The super pacific seems to have better features from the integrated wiring raceways, unobstructed access to the side doors, the drop down pass through window allowing access to the tundras cab, and the brick shit house aircraft style construction. Its almost like aircraft engineers took the idea of the gfc and made it their own... probably because they did lol. Not to knock gfc, they are well made, lighter, and a great option which is why I still debate getting one. I feel the pass through feature from the bed to the rtt can be a priceless feature at times.
