Rattling on passenger side by A pillar

Has anyone else had a constant rattling noise on normal driving conditions? The Tech yesterday said he could definitely hear it but has no clue where it was coming from. Just seeing if anyone else has come across this. They have ordered new window seals but this is on interior somewhere.

 

Yes, there are several dedicated threads to noises/rattles, squeaks in the 3rd gen trucks. The threads will be here in the 3rd gen forum. Have seen issues related to windows/seals, mirrors, dash/door panels, seat trim, rear window so yes you are not alone.

 

Mine is from the headliner where it meets the windshield. It is more of a squeaky rattle. Only seems to happen at certain temps (40s).

 

Yep, noticed it also when I have my drivers side window partially down.

 

I believe it's coming from the velcro that connects the headliner to the roof. I notice it at colder temps (below 50). Very annoying. If anyone has had success with the dealer fixing, I would love to hear what they did.

 

Same here… mine comes alive on bumpy roads and in cold temperatures. It is like a tapping rattle.
Just wondering….Did you find a solution for it?

I don’t want to jinx it, but it feels like I’m the only person not getting weird wind and interior noises. Only 1k miles so far but I have actually marveled at how quiet and tight the interior seems, but the issues others have had has me paranoid and constantly looking for weird sounds. Lol

 

Yep that's what I got. Pretty annoying.

 

Rattle turned out to be loose wiring harness. It had separated from the adhesive and was flopping around. Taped it back down and put some ccf over it and that fixed it.

 

Under which panel? I’m having the same issue.

 

It was actually at the headliner, right between the A and B pillar. I had to drop the overhead console, sun visor, a and b pillars on the passenger side. That allowed me to drop the headliner and tape the harness down

 

I interesting. That’s hard to get to. I’ll start poking around and work my way there if I don’t find anything that’s easier to get to. Thanks!

 

It's really not that hard, 6 bolts and 2 clips and it's down. You're not reaching more than 6 inches into the cab....the harness is right there. I didnt see anything under the a pillar that could rattle.

 

I have the same problem at 50F or below and with any road roughness. Here’s a guy that got it fixed at his dealership

I only have rattles from the window switch plates in the left/right front doors during certain bass frequencies.

 

Same. Dealer is replacing headliner next week, and I've made them aware of some others posting about it being the clips holding the headliner up rattling against the windshield in cold temps.

 

Damn, no need to replace the headliner but good thing you're not paying! Lol

Depends what was causing the issue. If it was the harness and the new headliner comes with a new harness, it might fix it if they started adding more glue at the factory.

I dont see why they'd replace the entire headliner unless it was damaged somehow. I'd ask them to tape down the harness where they notice there is hardly any glue.

 

I don't think they could figure out what was causing the clicking/rattling so they opted to replace it.

It is getting me crazy…I have no idea we’re is coming from.

I had this fixed on my TRD Pro, the tech said because of the large sun roof there's more clips holding the headliner in. I had the rattle fixed, the glove box re aligned, the driver side door speaker removed and they put some foam behind it to stop the rattle all under warranty. The speaker still rattles when turned up and now my driver side window is rattling when its down a bit.

 

this is why i took it upon myself to fix the issue...I didnt want them messing up other stuff. The tech is right, theres a lot of hook and loop clips on the headliner and they pop off the liner/roof real easy.

 

I had my headliner replaced, which in turn required new clips and the tech making sure they were all connected properly. Fixed the issue for the most part, but sometimes the clips come loose and I have to pop them back in by pushing up on the headliner. I'd say it's 80-85% better though.
