one concern I have is USB cables tend to go bad after a while and I don't want to have to pull all that shit apart multiple times and invite rattles.

I've yet to have a usb go bad with a setup where I don't plug/unplug it often but its possible. I just don't want to give up that usb port in case I want to charge the phone while it's on my ICS holder.

We went through and tested many USB cords including Apple brand cords.

The one included with the unit is a nylon Braided, tangle-free, 3.1A fast-charging cord that has withstood our testing.

    Another great point!

Any updates on the dual charger product that was originally mentioned? Looks like the referenc was removed from the OP, hoping it's still on the radar.

It is still very much being looked into but there are a few design challenges that need to be met before we can move into the prototype phase.

Where is the install video, including where you're plugging in the wire for power? Waiting to order until I see it.

    That’s great, guys!

    Official product shots:

Universal Charging Insert (for 2022+ Tundra with factory-installed Qi charger):

Universal Charging Insert and Mounting Plate (for 2022+ Tundra with or without factory-installed Qi charger):

    E8AF7378-8291-4D52-A0A7-EFDB36DB72E1.jpg

Both are plug and play into existing USB chargers. The insert with mounting plate version will allow those without factory-installed Qi chargers to retrofit a charger and maintain factory OEM appearance (additional part required from Toyota).

    DON’T FORGET!

Orders are now being accepted and shipping!

We still have a few waitlist members who haven’t placed their orders. Make sure to claim your units!

Also, we have enough inventory to start shipping to non-list members, so general ordering is being accepted!

    Thanks for the overwhelming support!

Just got mine today. I have the platinum. It charges better. The original has a fan. How did you test the heat dissipation? I'm learning with my iphone 14 pro, I have to 3d print a 'riser' block to make 14mm higher and it charges perfect.

good question, lets say your on a long trip and have it on there the entire time, how much testing was done for long time running?

don't need a fire down there, lol.

Straight up. I left it charge outside of the truck on a table for 20 or so minute and it was lukewarm to the touch.
just drove to pick up my child. Went from 56% to 62% while it was connected via carplay playing a podcast the whole time. That's better than the original, it certainly couldn't keep up the charge while connected via car play, much less charge. This was a 14 minute car trip.
My ONLY fear about this is the overheating since i saw the external fan in the original charger.

I got mine today and have zero worry about heat/melt/fire. Before attempting installation, I plugged my unit in to a charging cube on my desk and charged my Galaxy S22 Ultra from dead to 100% and barely felt any heat from the unit afterwards.

Who knows why Toyota put the fan in there on the OEM charger. These aftermarket units are just like the wireless charging pads/pucks, of which I have five situated around my house and not a one of them has a fan and they all heat up about the same as this one that's going in my truck, warm to the touch, but that's about it.

    Direct from the R&D guy:

    Great question,

EEF charging technology is different than that of the factory unit. The factory unit used high heat producing internal components and was less efficient, thus producing a byproduct of heat. The advantage of the EEF charging technology is that there are no high heat producing components, thus there is not a need for heat sinking or a fan. Each unit has several safety features included internally. The features that relate to your concern are the temperature probe that actively monitors the temperature of the component that will cut power to the unit if the set temperature is reached. This means there is no way for combustion temperatures to be reached. EEF chargers also use power very efficiently and thus produce far less heat than other charging units. The unit also uses charge sensing technology to avoid heat associated with overcharging your phone. We have conducted several high and low temperature tests to ensure our safety features are present and respond appropriately.
in short, heat was a primary concern during the development phase. As a testimonial (albeit biased due to my relationship with the company) I have had a unit in my truck for past four months trying to force a fault in it. I have yet to have it fail.

Just a reminder, when installing the Universal charger into the back of the OEM plate, make sure to reference the bottom of the charger in the bottom of the plate and as close as possible to the LED plate (left side of plate)

The top of the plate can be identified by the screw mounting location directly at the 12 o’clock position.

While technically you can mount the charger in any position on the plate, we have found that this specific location is most ideal for all the phones we tested.

below is a picture reference using the EEF mounting plate.

Got mine and I’m testing it in the garage, so far it’s pretty damn forgiving on placement , my iPhone 14 pro max grabs the charge right away and holds it well
