Do you remove the glass from the doors to put the tint on?

Very cool. My tint was not cut by hand, it was precut by a machine and it does not follow the shape of the glass at all. First world problems!

How is that going financially? Are you able to live comfortable with the pay?

I HATE being a nurse, only nursing gig I have been able to tolerate so far is vascular access, and thankfully I am good at it, as I am all set with butt wiping and having a load of patients. I have tried ER (cannot stand psych patients, no offense to anyone), Vascular access, labor and delivery (hated every minute of it), and postpartum (loved the newborns, but hated the rest, and my 45 year old self can no longer tolerate nights running my ass off for 12 Hours and then driving home 45 minutes barely able to see straight), I would love NICU nursing, but all the jobs are night shift!

I keep going back to EMS because I truly hate nursing so much.... The money and job security working in healthcare makes it hard to leave though, and I live in a high cost of living area. Looks like I am going to be a paramedic for as long as my back and joints can tolerate it, I have never dreaded going to work when I am on the boo boo bus! I have thought about getting out of healthcare, even though I love the medicine aspect and comforting someone in need, it's the BS that comes with working in a hospital that I cannot stand anymore.

Completely unrelated but I see your location and the truck….did you buy that at Toyota of Nashua? My dad wheeled and dealed on that exact same truck and I have yet to see one since.

I was in the ICU/CCU/ cath lab.
Financially I took a HUGE hit. Started off making less than half of my nursing hourly rate. But when we bought our house years ago the plan was to keep the wife at home and homeschool the kids so we aren’t housebroke. It’s been slightly difficult with the price increase of everything, heating oil hitting over $5/gallon but we are surviving. In the long run it’ll be easy at top rate, health insurance is paid for with union dues and there’s plenty of OT opportunity to fill the gap.
If you need the nursing salary right now I would say no, don’t make the jump because you will drown.
Are we living comfortably? Yea, food is on the table, bills are paid. But we’re not vacationing in the Bahamas, we tent. We have a small aluminum boat, not a speed boat for tubing, etc. you get the idea.
Its about what you can sacrifice to get out of nursing with that kind of pay

    Hahahaha. Yes, sometimes.

no more vacation or sick or holidays. Just days I’m not at the office earning anything, but still writing checks, and wishing the plague on dental insurance companies. just some unsolicited info, no one has dental “insurance” , you have a dental “allowance” - which is silly.

GEHA doesn’t get to put their name on the KC Chiefs stadium for free. And they don’t get the money to do that by giving a damn about your oral health.

Ok, I guess I am sticking with it, unfortunately I am on my own and in a high cost of living area, and no hubs with a second income. Will see what happens... Thanks for the response and glad you were able to escape nursing and it's working out ok!! I will stick with EMS for now, and hope that I get a vascular access nursing job in the future, or that we keep our 911 contracts on the boo boo bus!

HAHA, as someone with a mouth full of teeth, I wish the plague on dental companies as well, how is it that they still offer the same measly allowance for the past 2 decades, if not more?! It's not even enough to pay for much other than regular hygiene and an occasional filling... ugh. It will probably never change I suppose, because the insurance companies can afford to line the pockets of politicians, thus we must all have some money in the bank for our teefs, a tooth emergency fund (welcome to your 40s)! Now that I am in my 40s I feel like my teeth are plotting my financial demise, one by one, maybe payback for my sweet tooth!?!

Anyway thank you for taking care of our veterans for part of your career and for keeping our teeth in our heads!

LOL, that's funny, yes I did! I was a pretty loyal customer there for many years, as I used to stupidly trade my vehicles in like every year, so that might be why they negotiated. It was legit to the point that I would call on the phone, negotiate with the manager, get a satisfactory price and trade allowance and then go to the dealership, they knew I wouldn't even bother coming in if they didn't do that. The MSRP was like 47K or just under, and I paid 41K and some change and got them to pay for the line X. It was in 2020 during the summer, the truck was new and had been on their lot since maybe March or February of 2020 from what I could assume from the paperwork and title, it was during the beginnings of COVID and I think most people were worried about job loss so they weren't buying cars, total opposite of now! I am glad I snatched it up, it's def my last truck, I paid it off and am hoping to never have to buy another one!

Did your dad try to haggle maybe when it first arrived in the winter? When did he try to buy it?

On another note, how's that snowmobile working for you this winter? :p at least we have snow right now, but unless you live way up in Northern NH I feel like we rarely have enough snow for snow mobiles.. I live on the trail and feel like its a rarity that the trail has adequate snow cover for the snow mobiles for more than a handful of days in the winter. You should get one of these, good for year 'round riding if you don't mind the cold. I just bought this one in Concord NH and got them to take 700 off, even though it's a unicorn with the supply shortages!
