Aren't you *supposed* to replace airbags every, I dunno, 10... 20 years? If it got damaged in any way for condensation to get in, your moving to Oregon would have been the end of it. And, how do you know it's the airbag in the steering wheel, not the passenger side?

I maybe missed it if you posted way back: did you remove the radio and center dash panel (because it's an easy rule-out) to check where it plugs in? Your buddy coulda not pushed it in to click, something simple. I had to tear my dash down to the frame twice, remove and store the passenger side airbag while it was out, and put it all back twice, and that light never revealed a thing about it.

 

Airbags only needed to be replaced in the early days when they came out and there should be a label on the assembly stating that if not in the manual. The newer airbags from the turn of the century should last the lifetime of the vehicle.

 

Ain't drove the virus in a hit minute. Stumbled something fierce the first 11 seconds on start up. Idling strong now.

The only real "change" made to anything SRS related was the integration relay I swapped. It was a solid chunk of time. I could go back over that and attempt to redo it I suppose? But I also wanted to swap my wheel. So the airbag codes don't tell us anything? I thought maybe the Toyota tech could tell but all the did was tell me my scanguage was causing trouble which makes total sense since I smushed that cable. I haven't re-installed it so that rules out further scangauge trouble. Could be seatbelt this time or clock spring or something, or maybe the integration relay.

I might try to take it in one more time and see. Or I could just swap the wheel and airbag then take it in. Or just swap everything out. I dunno.

I'll settle for 1/2" flat stock if I can't get 5/8".

 

Well. Reads like you'd like a new steering wheel. If you're gonna do that, might as well do it next, instead of taking apart anything you've done. If the wheel doesn't fix the problem, you can do the repeat take-apart later.

 

Last time I helped someone out with an airbag, it was on a Ford Probe from the 90s and that had to be reset by the dealer and not from your everyday scanner. I'm not sure what the story is with our trucks when that light gets set if it cannot be cleared. Just my two cents.

 

Steel is on order. Local place cutting it today into raw sticks. I pick up tomorrow after work. 188 bones. They didn't have 5/8. Went with 1/2. Should still be pushing a full foot of lift.

That’s probably because olive oil is conductive and you really shouldn’t be cleaning coil packs with it.

 

I'm no geologist, but that looks alot like the shape of Kentucky, and nothing like Tennessee. What's funny is you think alot of Californians want to move to either of those states.

 

The house next to me was purchased by a family from California. And yes, a lot of people from your state do want to move here.

I don't care if people from California move here. It's a free(ish) country.

When did that ever happen in South Cali? Was it before the Great Depression of the 30s?

 

At my house, I can count the number of times on my hand. Had a snow day at school one year. Otherwise we have like five different mountain ranges that get snow.

 

I may man up this weekend and replace my lower control arms. I have an appointment on 3/29 for a local 4x4 shop to do them for only $250-300 but I sort of want to just do it myself.

Does anyone know if I can leave the spindles connected at the UCA's and just support them with a floor jack?

I may spend that money on the smaller DeWalt impact that I should have bought before.

Yes, once your four LBJ bolts are out, put your lug nuts on two wheel studs and then use a floor jack with a 2x4 and lift the spindle/ UCA from the wheel studs.

Or pull the LBJ from the LCA since you'll have to do that anyways, then jack up from the wheel studs.

Just got off the horn with Milwaukee service, because my impact was under warranty, they replaced literally all the guts. The switch. The gear case. The wiring. The battery board in the bottom of the gun. The anvil.

From dad upon hearing the news.

 

Our County kids would be out for at least a week with that much snow and Kroger would be out of everything....wimps we are !
