Comfort of the Single Cab??

Hey everyone,

I've been truck hunting for a while, and have always been interested in the long bed. They're generally hard to find in 4WD, but I managed to find one a couple hours away. I was wondering the comfort of the single cab, in regards to space and seat recline, and honestly any notable factors of the truck that are different from their counterparts.

I am 6'4, and can get a stiff back from long drives, though I'm sure most of us do in older trucks.

I have an access cab and a regular cab. Obviously the seats recline more in the access cap But as far as comfort I'm comfortable in both I am 6' 2.

I feel like there's plenty of room for small items behind the seat in the R c

Obviously you can put more things in the access cap butt but I store most of my things in the bed

Since you own both and can easily compare, do they handle and drive the same? Any major differences? I'm looking at a V8

 

My access cab is a V6 so not a completely true comparison, but as far as drivability, they both handle the same in my eyes. Both have the same turning radius.

For me, the seats all the way against the back wall of the RC are the perfect spot.

Seeing your longbed makes me psyched to work on mine. I think they look so good with a bit of a lift.

 

I don't think I speak for only myself when I say many of us are actually jealous of the 8-ft bed guys. Shame they didn't make a 1st gen ext cab long bed. I don't want the 2nd gen...

 

dont expect the seat to recline much. that being said, me and my father have been comfortable in the ol girl on multiple 8 hour drives

No, the thing to not expect is a bed mat you can buy. Other than that one pesky problem they are the absolute s.

turning radius slightly improved with solo LCA’s.

I recommend a backup camera, expensive but super nice.

and don’t listen to Dan on stock radios, aftermarket FTW.

check the frame meticulously before buying.

 

Sadly, comfort-wise, our 2018 Odyssey wins hands down. Truly an outstanding people hauler and fits a ton of crap too. Decent engine and transmission. Terrible ground clearance.

My Tundra is 2nd best at comfort. Bench seats feel like they should probably be illegal they are so cool.

 

It has a bed mat! And I do not doubt there are hundreds of more comfortable cars, I'd hope so. Just want to make sure it's not horrendous, as I'm usually somewhat uncomfortable in my tacomas with the stock seats

 

I hear you. I own a 3rd and 2nd Gen Tacoma and once owned a first Gen Taco before I got the Tundra.

Reclining seats past a certain point is senseless.

sleeping in an 8’ bed is vastly superior to a 6’ bed. Night and day.

I only own RC and DC. The first Gen Taco was xtracab and I always wanted RC for shorter wheelbase. If I wanted a trunk I’d buy a car. AC is like a combover, nobody is fooled.

 

I’m curious what that bed mat looks like. Mine got left in San Diego at my mechanic’s but it was so trashed it would make your hands and knees charcoal color just by looking at it. And it shrunk to the point where it looked like a teenagers pair of undies on a grown man.

one has to wonder why nobody will make us a perfect fit bed mat. It’s like we don’t exist in the aftermarket world.

 

We barely exist in the TOYOTA world... the fuck you mean? Lol

 

You won't be disappointed in the Tundra V8 regardless of which Cab you choose.
As others mentioned, check the frame !
