Considering buying a new 1794 tundra does the power seat move forward and back as you exit and enter the vehicle.

Yes, it will move back and forth as you start/stop the truck. You can also turn that feature off as well.

Great thanks! Do you feel this truck is safe and strong. I want to switch from my Ford F150.

Yes. And you have the option of making the steering wheel tilt and telescopic also

I'm biased since I helped design the truck, but I love it. I've been very happy with it and sold my 2020 Tacoma and 2021 Bronco to get my 22 TRD Pro. Hoping to keep this for a long time

I am really in love with the saddle interior and design overall this one has TRD off road package surprisingly quiet

Is this feature on all trims or just for 1794 or higher trim?

Not sure what all trims have it, but I can tell you the SR5 does not. If I had to guess it would be Limited and up.

Exactly, we can get the nice 8-way Softex seats but they deleted the memory ECU and switch in SR5. I found the parts on the Toyota parts website but I don't know if SR5 trims have the wiring harnesses in place or not. Switch goes on the door and the ECU goes under the driver's seat. One of these days I plan to look unless someone here beats me to it and reports back.

Tell me about it. This is one of the few things I wanted but can't get in the SR5 trim. Had to move up to at least a Limited for the seat memory function, and I did not want a Limited.

I would assume that the seat moving forward/back on entry/exit is a seat memory function and therefore any trim with seat memory would have the feature. The lowest trim that can have seat memory is the Limited.

ive got a limited and yes the seats move back automatically when it’s time to get out. The steering does not move though, I think that’s on the next trim level.

I saw the option in the menu of the multimedia console. Can’t remember the exact menu but I’d check first in the profile settings since this is an individual preference. Otherwise check the User Manual;)

I disabled this feature on my 1794 as I'm paranoid the seat motor will break if it keeps moving every time I get into the truck.

Just a personal feeling... Don't like extra moving parts, and it's not necessary for me as had previous truck without it just fine

And herein lies maybe the fatal problem with upgrading an SR5 with memory. Even if the harness is present to connect the memory computer and switch the vehicle firmware must be able to support it. It could be present in the firmware but grayed out or inactive and just need to be turned on with Techstream... or Toyota might even have trim specific versions that make this a total non-starter. So will need to look into that aspect as well. One of these days...

As a current Ford owner for the past 25 years still having 2 Fords.
Coming from a 2015 Expedition to the Tundra, passing on an F150 absolutely get the Tundra.
Toyota just flat makes a better all around vehicle. I doubt I will ever own another Ford daily driver.
I like Fords and honestly you’d be just fine buying an F150 as they are not bad trucks. Toyota is just better.

I actually traded my F150 Lariat in for the Tundra. I was tired of the appearance and wanted something new. Thanks for your input.

There are not different software versions per trim level. That is so much work to maintain and regression test per trim. Its all one software with a couple of variations for head unit sizes and manufacturers, that populates available modules at startup.

So then theoretically, you could add the seat memory button and ECM and the option settings would show up in the infotainment system on the next start? I can almost guarantee though that the wiring harness isn’t there. From what I’ve seen so far with the 3rd gens the wiring harness (unlike the infotainment system software) is very trim specific, and if it didn’t come from the factory with a certain option chances are the wiring is not there.
