Yeah, I did that double-check too. Just waiting for Level 2 support from Kristal.

I’m sorry. Someone with that name could be the most important person in the world for the entirety of the human race…but it will always be a stripper name to me. I even know good people with the same name…:notsure:

It wasn't advice, it was a joke. So, joking aside, then...

My son was 6 before I was out of poverty. Unless you're the dregs of humanity, an unplanned kid definitely changes your life. Poverty in America, though, doesn't look like a filthy homeless person living in a tent in downtown Seattle (that's poverty plus mental health problems). It looks like leaning heavily on your family or community until you can get on your feet. There's still food, shelter, and clothing for you and the kid; and if you're as lucky as me, plenty of encouragement.

If you're smart enough to take good advice; get a career, a house, and a spouse before having a kid. If you're not that smart, you and the kid will both still be fine.

I was 21 when I had my first kid. I married at 19 (almost 18 years ago in a couple of months). We were both young, but survived it. We were on our own, but had family to help babysit. When the oldest turned two, we relocated and it was just us. We still made it work. LOL, we bought all of our dishes from Ikea and had some couch from Macy's I think. Of course, much older and wiser now we are in completely different position.

On a semi-related note: I think marriages are over-rated; just like V-Day. I dont need a piece of paper from the government to tell me my marriage is real. Besides, after a while, in most states you have common law marriage. We never did the wedding thing. When we were married (again, I was 19) we went to the courthouse to be legally married. No wedding. (IMO that is just a big waste of money being spent on everyone and while you hope it may work out, it might not at some point)

I couldn’t agree more. Weddings are a huge waste of time, money and patience. It is your wedding, but really it is for the family. Such a cluster. My wife and I have told our kids that they’ll get a check. Spend it on flowers that die and on photographs you’ll never look at or use it to help with a home down payment.
